I also hate the "I think he will fail but hope hes good mentality" That the attitude of someone with no conviction or balls IMO, state what you think from the outset and stand by your convictions.

So if you doubt a player will succeed, you have to want them to fail? That doesn't seem right to me.

So in the meantime we take your approach of criticizing our transfer strategy, even though we have no evidence of its failure?

No thanks. That's idiots logic.

Because Soldado aside, its the same strategy that has had us treading water for 3 years. Spend nothing. Buy promising young players, play boring football. That's us.

We have a coach who has a reputation for improving and nurturing young players and a head of scouting and recruitment who apparently has excelled at finding them.

It's a different era. Until we have failed to reach our targets(whatever they may be) with this strategy then you have no grounds to criticize it.

He brought him to Southapton though, after an unremarkable spell at Athletico.

What? My comment was based on the over-the-top reactions of Stoke signing players. There's a reason that Stoke signed who they did and not anyone else. Come on.

No I didn't put that well, but some people will always want to be seen as right so they will say "I dont think he will succed", player doesn't succeed and they say "I told you so". The player succeeds, "oh I always wanted him too". No that they wanted him to fail.

Absolutely. This "same old Tottenham" stuff would be fair if it was the same old Tottenham. But it simply isn't!!

If he had torn up the French league I might be a tad intrigued

N'jie has more goals + assists per 90 than anyone in France who doesn't start for PSG, in his first season playing senior football, at 21 frigging years old. What the hell do you have to do to qualify as "tearing up the French league"?!

Mate if you can't get excited by "buying promising young players" and developing our own, you might want to stop watching now because that's gonna be our strategy for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, let's fight Stoke for players. That's the level we want to be aiming for.

Before knocking Stoke, consider the following.

Their wage bill is 60% of ours, but they spend 62% of their revenue on wages compared to our 55%
They have consistently improved since their time in the prem, despite having the 16th biggest budget.
They have 5 champions league winners in their squad now. More than anyone.
Hughesy has turned them from long ball merchants, into a team trying to play more football and it hasn't cost them league place.

They are much smaller than us, but are trying to improve. We are trying to merely hold the fort for another +5 years at our fans expense.

I have. Season ticket renter/ ENIC cash cow no more.

Then why the fuck are you posting trying to bring anyone down that has some optimism?

Just because you [have had enough of it all]/[are the problem in the first place] [DELETE AS APPLICABLE, THE OTHER MEMBERS THAT IS, NOT YOU], I cannot see what possible purpose you have or joy you get posting on a Spurs forum (other than some freedom of speech on a forum bollocks that you may trot out) when you're not remotely interested in Spurs any more? Or have I missed the point?

Are you in fact just a bitter fan, moaning about the way football has gone? It's not going to bloody change back, is it? They're not suddenly gonna be paid a grand a month and have to work shifts in Tescos? Or then retire as a cabby are they?

Yes, it's different. Yes it's gutting that football has become the mega star celebrity-fest that it has, but at the end of the day I and many others still get excited about those blokes that wear our shirt and try and kick a ball in anger against another 11 blokes.

So, with that in mind, please explain why the fuck you continue to troll people on this site?

Which is EXACTLY why they are in the market for the players they have signed, and why we are in a completely different one.

Good post. I'll have to keep this in mind in the moments when he will have growing pains.

For the people moaning about N'Jie. Please name a player who is in the same age range, has the same skill set as he (fast, creative, good dribbling, scores goals) and as equally attainable?

N'Jie is incredibly exciting and a risk we as a club need (and will) take.

The truth is the opposite. Over the last three years we haven't concentrated on young players.
"Soldado aside"! Are you joking? What about Paulinho, Stambouli, Capoue, Fazio etc. etc.
If the club are now switching to buying young players identified as possible future stars then I am fine with that.
