Only one signing, a 40 year old???
NO!
NO!
Our transfer dealings are not finished.
Even without buying anyone else, we have a squad that has great comaraderie, and, being young, they are improving all of the time. They have last years experiences to learn from, and that includes the CL experiences. We don't have it this year, and so less distraction and less pressure due to not being tipped by the pundits.
And our squad will be improved by 1st September.
Now is a good time to take advantager of the crazy odds being offered on us by the bookies, becuase I think we will really do well this year.
opps final bit went haywire
confident this squad withot additions can finish 4th
with adebayor 3rd
with classy midfielder and defender challenge manchester clubs
with adebayor rossi diarra and one CB title is on.
something special will happen i can see one maybe two trophies this season depending on approach to them all.
Premature ejaculation problems? Go see pele...I hear he's helpful with this type of thang
Nope. But unless we get some strikers who know how to put the ball in teh back of the net. All our great build up, exciting play will count for nothing.
For a season and half now our strikers have been left wanting, this is not a knee jerk reaction, this is something that ever supporter with half an ounce of intelligence has been saying for a very long time.
We could have a special season if we can score goals that our play deserves.
Last season we lost so many points because we could get anyone to find the back of the net....... Blackpool for example.
Yes our current strikers can't do any worse than last year, but I would really not like to take the chance.
TBH it could go either way. A settled squad which has grown close could put in a really strong league performance without the mental and physical demands of the CL, one of the strikers could find some the scoring form that eluded them last season, and we could get some strong last minute reinforcements.
Or the squad could carry on the tepid form of the end of last season, Modric could be disinterested, a couple of injuries to key players like Sandro and others, and the strikers continue to misfire, after a gruelling start we could find ourselves cut off from the leaders, and the pressure on Harry could see Levy get itchy.
I really don't know...
More or less said the same in another thread - think it could be tight at the top, this year, and all of the top 6 clubs could have convincing arguments made as to why they could flop, or they could have very successful seasons.
I just get frustrated by the doom-mongers, who talk about us and our chances as though we were Bognor Regis FC, or summit.
Calm down, calm down (in best, curly Scouse wig and tache, with squeaky Scouse accent)
It was a joke.
But, as I have already said, I really do not believe we won't sign a striker this window. Also, as far as I am coincerned, we signed a striker in all but name, last Summer, in VDV (takes up place of striker in team), and anyone who claims that they knew how poorly our conventional strikers would have performed last season before it happened is projecting.
All I say is, wait until 1st Sept., before making any definitive statements about the TW having been a disaster...is all.
At the end of the day, the quality of your players is what matters. Without a new, high-level striker, we will not finish in the top 4. Other teams have not simply stood still, but have improved, also. Arsenal have added a very good player in Gervinho, and they will unquestionably reinvest any incoming money they have on players like Hazard, Cahill, and others.
Liverpool, who amassed 8 more points than us between January and May of this year, have added quality all over the pitch. Enrique and Downing were fantastic signings for them, and Charlie Adam is a very creative player. They will score a ton of goals with Carroll healthy.
The other top 3 finishers from last year are simply too strong for us over the course of a full campaign. We may take points from them, but they have too many top shelf goal-scorers for us to surpass them.
It's imperative that we bring a striker in.
I don't pay it too much mind, it is just the way of our fans, the past was always more rosy, the current striker is never as good as Greaves/Chivers/Klinsmann etc, and our manager is never as good as Bill Nic.
Trust me I am calm and I know that there is time left in the transfer window, so we will have to wait and see.
But I am not saying that the TW is a disaster, just mearly commenting on the fact that unless we in improve where it is most desperately needed (strikers), I honestly don't think we will have an amazing season.
Not to say that we wont have a good one.
Who knows, I just dont want us to buy an elephant with a couple of legs missing brought as panic buy in the last mins of transfer window..... be bloody great to watch though

Just to add:
Liverpool 1 Sunderland 1
And now, Gervinho sent off on his debut...and the Goons down to 10 men with 15 mins to go.
