Is this going to be the case for the rest of eternity?

Covid isn't going anywhere so if players are asymptomatic, vaccinated and perfectly fine they're going to have to sit out 10 days for the rest of forever?
I imagine at some point in the future we will be able to safely ignore symptomatic positives. But given the new variant, we aren’t there yet.

Just when I thought we were picking up momentum under Conte. Couldn't make it up could you? ?

I'm just bored of it all. If they're vaccinated and feel fine let them play. It's silly that under those scenarios its just like any other sickness (and can be less so if feeling fine and vaccinated) but its treated with such extreme caution.

Whether or not they feel fine is irrelevant, they can still infect others for up to 10 days which will just spread it further

So you're cool with these rules forever then? Anybody can get sick from anything and we have a vaccine that works against it.

A personal coach in Hertfordshire a friend of my sister and a Spurs fan lost his 43 year old brother to Covid, it is more important we are precautious at this point to save lives then just play football, whatever the status of the players health.

If I had Covid or the flu would you invite me into your home to meet your family if I told you I felt absolutely fine? Why would I want our players to spread an illness throughout the club when they can just stay at home for 10 days, especially when there's a potential option to just suspend the match?

On the vaccine, it doesn't stop you from getting it nor does it stop you from spreading it so it makes no difference - if our players get it they should follow the same rules as everyone else and self-isolate.

Look what happened to Belenenses v Benfica, they started with 9 players including 2 keepers on the pitch, found themselves 7 nil down at half time with the ref abandoning the match and awarding the win to Benfica after only 6 players came back out for the 2nd half. Portuguese FA said regardless of Covid cases you’ve got to fulfil your matches… they’ve been hammered for it. Wonder what the English FA will do if it’s correct that a hefty chunk of our first team squad is unavailable due to Covid.

Yeah, I mean, I get the fact that some people naturally minimize the situation if players are asymptomatic and vaccinated. But, the reality is they are in a building with a bunch of non-peak level athletes (chefs/food prep staff, day-to-day administrative staff, building/grounds maintenance, etc.) who are susceptible to the worst of the worst of Covid, and the positive players are still a risk of spreading it. It’s really not just about footballers and matches (ergo points). Maybe consider this to be the new normal until it’s not.

I suppose I just struggle with the attention to it compared to normal life. I work in an office with 40 people or so, none of us are tested every 3 days, everyone is vaccinated if anyone feels sick we stay home and everyone is perfectly fine.

I just don't see at this point the need for scrutiny about COVID when it comes to sports vs the way the rest of us deal with it.

They’d make us play. Another team, I’m not so sure.
