As I said yesterday he should get no reception at all in my opinion, good or bad. He is the past... Its the first match at the Lane of a new season with a new manager in place. Those who are there should concentrate 100% on getting behind our lot rather than who is in the other dugout.

Whilst I agree with the majority of your post MP, personally I think that a round of applause for Aitch, when he's announced, just shows a bit of class from us. No reason we can't show him that his efforts were appreciated. I think he'd appreciate the respect himself.

I reckon he'll get a decent reception anyway. We have our fair share of bellends, but on the whole I think our fans are classy enough to show him respectful appreciation of his time at our club.

Like him or not, he gave us what we crave more often than not.

He took us into the champions league, so he should be remembered as manager that got results. I wish he was still managing us.

i'll be cheering.

Why would he be cheered. He's not part of the club anymore. He's coming back as a manager of another team.

Maybe a little clap if he walks past but cheering him is a bit weird.

He might still be managing us if when asked if he wanted the England job he replied...

''I am in the middle of a critical part of the season with Spurs, i have too much respect for the club and its fans to be discussing my future as we chase CL qualification or even the title itself''

In private he could have said what he liked to his beloved Jamie, the FA or even DL....he FOOKED it up himself.

I will always appreciate what he did for us, but i have moved on and a polite clap is all he will get from me.

Like when Robbo came back for Blackburn?

I think it's always good to acknowledge the past (Spurs make a living off it). I think we were right to get rid, because his head had been turned bu England, but Harry, in my view, should get a roar for what he did and how he got us playing during that period. That night at Man City still gives me shivers.

Am going later and will be cheering him.

Anyone who doesn't is a fool.

Those few season where we were a top club playing great football were sensational.

We haven't experienced that level of football for about 20 years prior and we have gone backwards since.

Yes we should if built on it and we quite clearly haven't and think Harry was partly to blame for this but more blame should be aimed at the board.

Still respect what he done and deserves a massive cheer today.

5 pages!

Harry should be accorded the normal courtesies of a returning successful Spurs ex player or manager.

For christ sake what's the problem!

Given the presence of Hoddle as well, surely we should be singing "Are you Tottenham in disguise?"!

Acknowledge him, be respectful-no songs during the game though.

And on the first home game of the season our cheer for Poch and the support for the lads must be more of a focal point than for Harry.

My god this is one element of modern football I hate, he got us to fourth place ffs!!! Why should we lord him for that ? we were never looking to win the league we were not ever real contenders but apparently we should be grateful for paying someone millions of pounds and pretty much whore himself to the F.A in front of our eyes to get us a top half finish bravo.... I would not boo him as that's the same extreme measure as giving him a standing applause in reverse, both are unnecessary. support the new man and team a polite applause to Harry if you must but remember he is not the messiah he is a very slippery boy.

His tenure saw us playing the most attractive and successful football we've seen at White Hart Lane for 20 years. If that's not worthy of a decent reception (rather than your grudging, "Ugh, clap him if you must" sentiment) then what is? Of course that's not to say that we shouldn't be cheering ourselves hoarse for Pochettino and the current Spurs team, but whether you liked his personality or not Harry's reign coincided with our best period in the last two decades. IMO, that's worthy of genuine respect, and we shouldn't have to resentfully acknowledge it through gritted teeth.

Were you in favour of the warm welcome that Ginola got on his return to the Lane? Because Harry is just about on par with Daveed in terms of bringing good times to Tottenham Hotspur FC in my opinion.

Whilst i Agree that Harry Does have skeletons in his closet as it were he provided the best football and team i have seen since the eighties the football and times was brilliant even if the tactics were sometimes questionable.
Yes Harry was seduced by the dark side and Took his eye off it but the players also needed to look at themselves too as the lack of bottle from them was frankly a disgrace and probably hid behind Harrys situation.
So for me i would like to say thanks Harry for the brilliant football and some good nights ( and yes i was in Milan the night We beat AC) and look forward now to see if poch can take us on to an even better level.

Personally daveed is different he was a player that loved and showed his love for spurs and was reluctantly sold. I don't have any major axe to grind with Harry i do think he was disrespectful to the club and the fans in his pursuit of the england job especially so close in time after the club and fans supported him so vehemently during his court case. I just think he isn't worthy of anything more than polite clap if the announcer mentions his name today that's all.

Not cheering him would be petty and sad.

It would just show us as bitter and lacking any appreciation for the job he did and the enjoyment we got watching the team play.

So, if you don't clap, just know you look bitchy and small minded.

Give 'im the claps, innit :)

Then raise the roof off for Poch and pound Rangers into the turf!

p.s. Seriously, I agree that it was the right time to let him go, he was far from exemplary in an absolute sense (media whoring, late season collapses, etc.), and his antics in his last half season, when he thought he had the England job, were unappetising (to say the least). But he also gave us some great memories. And, most importantly, just because he is a motor-mouth who can't control himself in front of a camera, that is no excuse for us to be classless.

Let's make the main story today the football (the media bores are always happy enough to slag us off as it is) :)

And, most importantly, COYS!

Missed this game due to work - was it a decent reception in the end? Loudish cheers or pretty silent?
