I'm not sure what you've heard but if you really think about it; can you blame Poch for not wanting to add players if what he's being offered are championship players, Nkoudous, N'jies and the likes? He's seen how this type of dross basically only ruins for the club, taking up wages and squad spot while basically adding nothing.

Mate he's allowed to ask for whomever he wants, he doesn't have to wait to be offered the N'koudous and the N'Jies just because the the players he has identified are all being courted by Europe's elite. Lets not forget he was offered Son, and Dele along with the two N's. Neither were his visionary finds.

If you don’t invest in the squad you end up going backwards that for us means fighting the likes of West Ham, Everton ,Leicester etc for a 6th or 7th place finish. Good luck then trying to charge fans top dollar and selling out the stadium every other week to watch that.

That is a valid criticism. I’m looking forward to the new stadium but am not convinced it’s going to push us to another level. Chelsea are now self sustaining and still able to win the PL regularly without a large ground.

I don’t know what the answer is though. With FFP we couldn’t chuck loads of cash at the squad anyway, not without resorting to the sort of skullduggery and corruption we saw City engage in. Would you really want Spurs doing that?

You may not agree with the strategy, but Levy is channeling his ambition into the stadium. That has an opportunity cost - investment in the squad.

The question is then, what's the point of having the best, most expensive car on the planet and not having the funds to put petrol in it?!! That seems to sum up ENIC's running of OUR club!!

And our rivals will standstill and wait for us to catch upto them?
No. I just think our model via Enic is different. As Gilzeanthinking suggests unless we’re taken over by some petro-oil syndicate, we’ll have to crack on as we are. Football is 100% a business, with in the realms of (football) entertainment. Levy et al know the path they wish to tread. Dunno about all the ‘Poch is stubborn’ nonsense; but I do, genuinely, believe we’ve hit our targets quicker than anticipated; and, as a result, the logistical side of things is askew. Let’s compare Liverpool, Man U and city, Chelsea and Arsenal. They’re are willing to tow the line of agent fees etc. I’m not suggesting one is better than the other; all I’m suggesting is our model bucks the trend. Peace

Walker, Dembele and soon Toby/Eriksen. The team slowly fading away and we're stuck with the mediocre players.

Won't surprise me if we in a couple of years look back at this squad thinking we wasted our chance ?
Definitely. One of the best squads we have ever had. Has Poch made the most of what he has had at his disposal? He undoubtedly has done fantastic things and we have (all) enjoyed watching our Spurs but there is a nagging doubt that perhaps he could have done more.

can you name some that are offered to him and he refused? Or just continue that poch is not wanting anyone.
I am sure he won't still be after de jong.

I am sure Poch is tired of bringing in players that aren't quality enough to be first team starters and than told in the next transfer window that our wage bill is too high and we need to shift some out before we can bring any in.

Shit, what more does Poch need to prove here. If he wants a player that is going to cost 40-50 million we need to make it happen for him. It's not like the guy is Mourinho or Klopp demanding multiple signings in that range. I mean, he's been carrying the company line for a year now on not signing anyone and going on with his job professionally.

I think the problem is that the players that he wants that are going to take the first team up a level are now £75-£85m....

Sanchez is not good enough, time and time again he gets out muscled. Foyth is Much stronger despite being lighter. Plus he's better on the ball. Sanchez just isn't going to make it as a top defender

i don't understand that we don't spend much on transfers and building a stadium on loans. where the hell all the money the club generates goes. Liverpool owners are not petro oil syndicate either.

I didn't get to watch the game today as unfortunately I had to go back into hospital but there were a large contingent of Liverpool fans in there and they were celebrating like they had just beaten us. What was the game like? Just seems at this moment in time the curse of the mid 90s is hitting us. Losing Harry, Dele and Sonny is soul destroying.

That starting eleven never had a fcking chance from the off. Not good enough at the back, to keep a clean sheet. And not good enough up top, to score. But I understand the selection, and ain't gonna complain about it.

Its just disappointing, that the experienced players, aren't able to lead by example. And are more culpable for the result, than the youngsters (although KWP, no matter how inexperienced he is, the pen was fcking inexcusable).

Nope.

Bingo!

I know this is just going over old ground as far as this window is concerned but it's 100% true. Poch is happy with the squad and really hasn't been pushing for incomings. He has his extremely optimistic list and is more than aware they were unlikely to be brought in. The thing with the ITK's on here, and the other forums at least is that it comes from various different sources, some pro Levy, some anti Levy, some that have zero interests in the club what so ever. Believe me we all talk behind the scenes and everyone is hearing pretty much exactly the same thing regarding this, and have been for some time. Some of you can bury your heads in the sand and continue to blame Levy(don't get me wrong he has form) but our lack of transfers both now and in the Summer are not down to him. He's for once doing what we have all been asking for, for the last decade and backing the manager. I know, easier to do when he doesn't have to spend any money, but there is money available should Poch want to bolster the squad.

I'm all for having faith in the youth but lets be honest it would be far easier to blood them with real quality around them, rather than having to chuck them all in together when we are injury plagued, and lacking confidence.

Not sure if this should have gone in here, or if some of it should have been posted at all tbh but I'm sick of hearing "this is all Levy's fault" and "poor old Poch having to work on a shoestring" when as things stand it couldn't be further from the truth.

At the very least we know which camp you're in Trix.

Also, this 'cup goalkeeper' thing has got to stop

It makes no sense not to have your best keeper between the sticks if he's fit.

Had we had Hugo in goal on Thursday maybe we'd be in the final now.
