could only watch the highlights, but all I can say is, ONCE AGAIN, if we'd taken our chances: --1) Trip's penalty; 2) N'Koudou's point-blank set piece; and 3) Llorente's TWO horrible misses -- we win that game going away.

regardless of how we played overall, we were inches from victory. that's a very sorry state of affairs.

Trouble is we had a RB taking the penalty.

Llorente as a CF

And N’Koudou on the pitch.

We were a long way offwinning today.

4 shots on target all game, dry poor.

Lowest point this season (obviously) and (typical Spurs fan comment here) but starting to get extremely worried about players and Poch leaving...

There was a time we were worries about Modric and Bale leaving. We'll get over it if they do..we always have! Coys!!

Why is top 4 more important to some that actually lifting a trophy??
We are not going to win the league or the CL. No chance.
I get that top 4 gives qualifies you to the CL and gets you more money. But we don't spend it, so what's the point?? We also don't get better players for being in the CL

I agree with you. It’s modern football And it’s pretty shit.

Nope.

Bingo!

I know this is just going over old ground as far as this window is concerned but it's 100% true. Poch is happy with the squad and really hasn't been pushing for incomings. He has his extremely optimistic list and is more than aware they were unlikely to be brought in. The thing with the ITK's on here, and the other forums at least is that it comes from various different sources, some pro Levy, some anti Levy, some that have zero interests in the club what so ever. Believe me we all talk behind the scenes and everyone is hearing pretty much exactly the same thing regarding this, and have been for some time. Some of you can bury your heads in the sand and continue to blame Levy(don't get me wrong he has form) but our lack of transfers both now and in the Summer are not down to him. He's for once doing what we have all been asking for, for the last decade and backing the manager. I know, easier to do when he doesn't have to spend any money, but there is money available should Poch want to bolster the squad.

I'm all for having faith in the youth but lets be honest it would be far easier to blood them with real quality around them, rather than having to chuck them all in together when we are injury plagued, and lacking confidence.

Not sure if this should have gone in here, or if some of it should have been posted at all tbh but I'm sick of hearing "this is all Levy's fault" and "poor old Poch having to work on a shoestring" when as things stand it couldn't be further from the truth.

I have a theory Poch isn’t pushing for incomings because he’s haunted by his previous failings in the window. He’s scared to push for a player.

I hate slagging off our own players but N'koudou just isn't good enough. Championship level at best. Maybe it's about match fitness but his first touch was horrible tonight. The world of football seems to be stacked with talented pacey wingers, yet we couldn't unearth someone better than N'koudou.

I should put money on him coming in on his right the next time he plays.

Winning the odd cup would be great but this season top 4 is more important. There’s 6 very good teams 5 of which are richer than us.
Pointless buying numbers we need 2 top quality players or 3-4 if we lose Toby and Eriksen. Qualify for Champ league, be brave in the next window , move into our new ground. No World Cup.
Come out all guns blazing next season.
It’s our only chance ( excluding billlionaire takeover) of staying up there.
I think if MC had any though of leaving he’d not be resting players in a cup we had an actual chance of winning.
Annoying today but we need to stay strong now in the league, Messing top 4 up would be a disaster that we might not come back from for years.

With better finishing I actually think we could have easily won that game

I was watching with my dad, who's a Palace fan, and I was stunned how close we were to getting something despite the circumstances.

Unfortunately, everyone who could have stepped up today wet the bed when they had an opportunity.

Exactly this never understood putting a weakened side out in the only competition left we could actually win, mind fucking boggling!!!

It feels like 19 teams are richer than us
19 teams do indeed spend more than us net on transfers. But our wages and therefore overall spending are considerably higher than the bottom 14. Our budget has gone up in recent years, but it's gone on new contracts for existing players rather than transfers.

Well that was quite depressing. I understand the selection but the sacking off of the FA Cup would have been much more palatable had we beaten Chelsea on Thursday.

Given all you said. What odds do you think we truly have of winning the Champions league or Premier League in the next 5 years? Given we historically don't pay the wages req for world class players. Our academy players will never be world class let's face it. I as a Fan want to see trophies. We can finish top 4 for years but at what point do we say it's just not enough?? I think we're already there with that thinking tbh.

I think every year that goes by competing in the Champs League increases our longer term chances of winning things. It wont happen quickly that's for sure, but it will all come down to finances in the end.

That said we are close now and maybe if we delay and don't take that step forward with wages and transfer fees, the opportunity may pass us by.
