Exactly.

Ings and LFC have been talking since before Xmas. They have already agreed wages etc with Ings' people.

Not speaking to players before a bid is accepted is a myth that doesn't happen any more. Clubs nearly always approach the player/their agent nowadays before contacting the club formally.
Yeah, but that was while LFC still had hopes of Top 4. But then they finished 6th. Behind us.

WAHEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

They were turning down anything but absurd money as it's more worth more to fight to stay in the Prem.

To be fair I think they would of considered 12 million at that point - there was always a strong possibility of them going down regardless.

I think Ings had a desire to stay until the end of the season though.

Yeah - Sherwood and Ferdinand scouted him for Redknapp and said he would be rubbish!

They probably saw him as not the 'traditional' striker they prefer because both of them are stuck in the early 1990's.

So I suppose by offering 12M, the general value – even the value of the tribunal decided compensation if needed – is automatically increased. Meaning that Levy ensured Liverpool will have to pay max dollars for him. Surely a tribune can't neglect the fact that 12M was offered, if presented with the task of establishing a fair compensation.

You're absolutely correct, mate. Where the original tribunal fee was expected to be around the £4mi to £5mil mark, it would have been based upon previous costs of development of the player, etc etc. However, with the £12mil bid supposedly being submitted, the tribunal hearing must take that figure into account when deciding how much compensation will be paid by Liverpoo, should they be Ings' choice. This is obviously just a guess, but that original estimate of £4mil to £5mil, will most likely end up being nearer the £9mil mark now that bid has been put in.

Right. Anybody besides me who can't shake the feeling that Levy & Burnley president Mike Garlick shared a couple of late nights & good wines over the Trippier-deal, and fantasised about doing a practical joke on Liverpool... ?

Nope. But I reckon they are in cahoots.

Just like last summer when we worked with Swansea to benefit both of us over Liverpool (who wanted Davies) and Utrecht (who expected money from Vorm).

I wonder if someone like Veljkovic, Winks or Onomah might end up there on loan next season as the final thing to seal the deal. Dyche would be a good manager for them to work under and our relationship with Swindon has now ended.

I'd say that the truth most likely lies somewhere in the middle of what you're both saying. I reckon it's without doubt that we've been in cahoots with the hierarchy at Burnley, but I'm not, at the moment, convinced we'll be getting an outcome that makes us guys happy. Something tells me that Liverpoo will just end up paying what's necessary. They don't seem at all shy to throw money at their targets, even if the final figure leaves everyone else in a state of disbelief.

Even that's good in that Burnley, a small club will benefit more, and that the bindippers will have less to spend elsewhere.
