If Ings goes to pool then its def for money reasons and not football reason and if that is the case, well, he can go fuck himself. :)
Why would he come to Spurs when there is a manager in place whose preferred formation has one up and has Harry Kane as that one currently? .... Europa league? Carling Cup?

Doesn't it seem fairly likely that we put in this bid just to make Pool fork over more money for Ings, so that they have less money to compete with us for our other targets. Ings isn't a bad player, but does anyone seriously believe Levy wants to spend 12 million for him?

I'm concerned about this as not sure how he would fit in team?

Wouldn't really want as an understudy as would like to see him playing regularly somewhere, don't know why I'm just weird like that lol.

I'd prefer a winger / forward type that can play alongside or back up Kane.

Rodriguez would be ideal if not potentially mashed by injuries lol.

Kane can't play 60+ games.

And both Kane and Ings can slot into wide forward (or Kane as a #10) if need be

It's a good investment. If he had a long contract he'd be worth nearly double £12m.

Mate, I'm sure it's not what you were implying, but we can't expect Kane to play every game. We've (arguably) overused him this season, and it seems, due to the International U21's tournament, he's not really going to be getting much of a rest during the summer.

We, in my opinion, desperately require an alternative option, and Ings is an excellent alternative, as he has many of the attributes that Kane has. He'd get plenty of time on the pitch, and our squad would be boosted significantly if we can somehow add him to it.

EDIT: I see @SHaRD has already said the same thing. Apologies, there was no page 17 when I was typing the response.

So ITK say Liverpool, media say a mixture, I guess anything can happen!
When an in demand player is coming to the end of his contract all the ITK has to be taken as if they only know as much as the club, which is not much. Ings and his agent will probably be playing a cute game. They may really genuinely only want Liverpool, but are flirting with us to get a better financial package. They may be letting us know they favour Liverpool to induce a big offer from us. In short nobody really knows as of yet.

yeah because a liverpool team where lambert, ballo, borini, sturridge, origi could well be on the books gives you confidence in playing time and, crucially, the whims of the manager

I think that's a very good point that I've not read elsewhere yet.

Ings' agent might very well be telling us that he's 95% going to Liverpool. But in truth there may be no interest from them at all and the Ings camp are just playing hard-to-get to get him a better financial deal

Liverpool currently have:

Sturridge, Balotelli, Lambert, Origi, Borini, Aspas, Sterling and look set to go for Benteke as well.

Ings going there just doesn't make sense to me, even if David Brent is going to pay 2 up top.

Lambert, Balotelli, Borini and Aspas will all leave in the summer, and Sterling also likely to go.
That only leaves the injury riddled Sturridge.
Liverpool will get both Ings and Benteke.

Ings could very likely play the Rodriguez role to a tee given his skillset.

Fast, hard working, tenacious, forward that can score.

To be honest Ings sounds like exactly what you want.

Danny Ings to decide between Liverpool and Tottenham transfer in next 10 days
Burnley striker believed to favour move to Anfield but will decide before joining up with England under-21 squad in June

Danny Ings is set to decide between a move to Liverpool or Tottenham before flying out to the Czech Republic with England under-21s for next month’s Uefa Euro U21 Championships.

The Burnley forward, who scored 11 goals in the Turf Moor club’s unsuccessful attempt to avoid relegation from the Premier League, is understood to favour a move to Anfield when his contract expires at the end of June.

But with Burnley being made aware of Tottenham’s willingness to pay £12million for the former Bournemouth striker, long-running efforts by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to take Ings to Merseyside are now under threat.

With Ings still under the age of 24, Burnley are entitled to a compensation fee for the 23-year-old when his contract runs out and the club had been anticipating a figure in the region of £5m from Liverpool.

Manchester United, who have also monitored Ings, have dropped out of the running to sign the forward, seemingly leaving the way clear for Liverpool conclude a deal.

But Tottenham’s intervention - and the fee they are willing to pay for Ings - has surprised the Burnley hierarchy, who are now waiting for Liverpool to formalise their interest in the player with an offer.

With Ings expected to choose Liverpool ahead of Spurs, the transfer fee will be set by a tribunal, but Tottenham’s £12m valuation would work in Burnley’s and most likely see Liverpool forced to pay more than their £5m valuation of the player.

Dempsey had been at Fulham for six years when we signed him, and had only played senior football for one other team previously. Hardly a journeyman. And he had just scored 17 PL goals the season before (only Aguero, Rooney and Van Persie scored more that season) - not at all bad for someone not playing as an out and out striker. His international rate of more than one in three in over 100 caps is not too shabby, either (better than Benteke's, in fact).

Yeah but they were both bought as squad players by us, that would have been the case at Liverpool too, they would have been bought as squad players, If Sturridge or Suarez had chosen Spurs ahead of liverpool it would be different

A fully fit Benteke is in the top 3 or 4 strikers in the premiership

Exactly. We are crying out for a striker, they have a shedload he would get so much more game time here. Something doesn't make sense about him to pool.

How can Ings choose to go to Liverpool,
when they do not have permission to even speak to him?

Because the "can't talk to until end of contract" statement is bollocks in reality.
A club can get away with it any time they want to.
It's not technically tapping up as the player's contract is ending, and it would be hard to prove that they were in communication with the player.
