Why do you call me the swedish word for gay??

I am a redneck by your confession, who is fat and stupid. Why would I know any swedish? You're contradicting yourself. I can't be both stupid and clever. Sorry if my simpleton-self keystroked a word by accident that you took as something else.

It doesn't suprise me one bit that they spent ages training on what is easily our biggest weakness. If I was playing us, i'd watch the last 5 games and see Gomes kicking is poor so would put him under pressure as soon as that ball is near his feet and for every corner have 2 players standing right in front of him!

So frustrating that his shot stopping is world class. The problem is that he has always been like that. Read an article how Dunga gave him 4 games for Brazil then saw the same flaws in his game and replaced him.

The error Saturday was laughable but i'd still put that as an error and not a flaw in his game. The dealing with corners/crosses and kicking are major IMO and I wonder if nobody has been able to coach them with him up to now, will anyone??

Interesting that Alnwick has been recalled. Will he or Sanchez get a chance to stake a claim??

You asked where all the people was that liked Gomes..........and i said they m ight not be interested in discussing this topic with ignorant rednecks.

It was only pointed out to those that might have recognized themselves...not anyone special.

The reality is that Alnwick's loan period expired.

Those of us who watched him for PSV in the Eredivisie last season said that he would have the occasional horror show. The question is, will his shot-stopping abilities more than compensate for this?

It seems to me the problems with crosses and corners have started since he's stopped coming off his line—i.e., since he clattered Charlie. If he's been under orders to stay put, it's up to the defence to offer him protection, not lose their man eight yards out or head the ball into their own net. We seem to have succeeded in converting him into Robbo Mk II.

Jussi please, we should've gone for him in the summer. Far too good for Bolton.

Not at all surprised that Fulham trained specifically for those things, problem is that hearing this every team in the league will be doing it now...

Agreed, Jussi is underrated. He has been making magnificnet sdaves for Bolton over the years. That said, he did make a little error against us.

Is it going to be warranted in January? We will know they are coming after Gomes and have until Jan to fix it. Surely there is a way. Otherwise we're fucked come the opening of the window.

Couldn't see any mention of David James on here - for me the best keeper in the land and one of Harry's boys so I'd be amazed if he wasn't tempted to move here in Jan.

For all his faults the guy has been outstanding at Pompey. And is one of the few keepers who does command the box.

So he took his eye of the ball for a second and fumbled a cross. No worse than Hutton giving the ball to the sc*m the other week. I'm sure that is just a confidence thing.

Where did this confidence hit come from. Undoubtedly, the fact that the defence were failing to deal with crosses and he felt he needed to come out all the time and then had a few collisions.

Though more Mr Tickle than Octupus at the moment I'm sure he'll recover quickly

Saturday's error was so poor that I'm no doubting my original thoughts that Gomes will eventually come good.

Comments like these from Danny Murphy show that Gomes is only going to be targeted by the opposition.

If we get beaten another few times between now and January 1st because of Gomes errors, Arry will have no other choice but to sign a new keeper.

Would be very happy with Chris Kirkland, seems to have conquered his injury problems and is a very good GK, if not him then Foster.

It's a heck of a lot worse if a keeper makes a mistake in dealing with the ball in his area. It inevitably ends up with a goal opportunity.

Whereas if an outfield player commits the crime of giving away the ball, or mis controlling etc, there's a chance that the mistake can be rectified - it's not so crucial.
