said fulham completly changed their training routine for the spurs game...trying half an hour putting crosses in as near to gomez as possible knowing he was the weak link in the team..

also said they almost scored twice before they went 2-0 up...

if other teams are doing this harry has to move in the transfer window, even though he said he's our first team chioce keeper.

robert green anyone

Jussi please, we should've gone for him in the summer. Far too good for Bolton.

Not at all surprised that Fulham trained specifically for those things, problem is that hearing this every team in the league will be doing it now...

I would take green, strange was thinking about that yesterday.

Im hoping Gomes sorts himself out before jan though, I really think he can be class for us, but he better pull his finger out quick. If he is still a liability by the next transfer window I think we should bid for green or someone better if anyone has any ideas.

Isn't he really old, like late thirties?
Maybe as a stop gap until Gomes gets good!!!???!!!

Id have a cheeky bid for Given, or Foster on loan, Jussi would also be a good option. But surely it says something when after every game there is a thread asking about a new keeper?

Blackburn will be worse...

I heard this in the car, he was straight up about it and said they stood their tall players by Gomes. Bad news as the cat is now definitely out of the bag. Still the good news is that we know it's not coincidence.
By the way I thought Harry Redknapps response was telling yesteday as well he said smething like he's our first team keeper and we'll support him and pick him up but none of the usual "he's a teriffic player" etc etc not exactly fulsome I thought.

i like gomes. if he's as tough as i think he is than this whole shit storm of a season is gonna make him a whole lot stronger, which can only be good for us..

At least we have a full week to prepare for the next game, minus the International players. But that means, Dawson, King, Woodgate and Gomes will all be training this week. We need to run a similar drill throughut the week for defending these corners. We'll have Bentley about too, so he can whip some dangerous balls in. Its a bad patch of form for Gomes, and i believe he can come good. He is shattered in confidence. Thats all it is. He used to come for everything, but now he doesn't know what to do. I think he should go back to how he has always played, and come for everything close to him. Even if he misses the ball, at least he could do enough to stop the opposition getting a clear header at goal.

I've always been a big Jääskeläinen fan and I was very suprised to see that we didn't go for him - same with Arsenal and Villa to be honest (seeing how Jääskeläinen is 4 years younger than Brad Friedel and was almost out of contract)

But we went for Gomes instead and I think it's way too soon to give up on him. He might give away the odd goal but I still won't give up on the feeling that he will atleast prove to be decent.

Thats a major worry for me that teams are reconising that Gomes is our weak link. There is no doubt that they are going to target him now. I really think for the Blackburn game Harry should give Sanchez a go. He cant do much worse! Blackburn are bit like Fulham in that have big and tall players who will do exactly the same at set pieces as Fulham did and i have no confidence that Gomes is going to react any better to this tactic.

I think there are four or five goalkeepers we should be looking at to buy/loan in January:

Green from West Ham, If they are still in money trouble then think a £4 to £7 million bid should get him.

Given: Much like west ham if Newcastle are still in a mess like they are at the moment then he might want to leave probably cost around the same as Green,

Hennessey from Wolves: Been impressed with what ive seen of him is meant to be one of the brightest prospects outside the Premiership would have thought would cost again round the same mark as Given and Green.

Boruc from Celtic: Very highly rated up there, Another one who ive been really impressed with. Not sure though if he would leave Celtic for us, always said if he left them he would go to top European club. Probably cost £9 million +!

Foster. Not sure we would get him permantly however might be best option as not many clubs will want to sell there number one goalkeeper in the January transfer window. So might be good deal getting him on loan till the summer. Down side would be that it makes us look more and more like Man Utd feeder club!

Where are all Gomes' defenders? I guess they must be drinking a whole bucket of reality when a player says a team (and an average one at that) can see his weakness. So I guess it wasn't just "fickle" Spurs supporters afterall, who saw this guy as a wreck.

I still wonder why we didn't go for a certain Aussie keeper who played against us last night...

Because he is crap.

There's a reason why he ended up at Fulham, and it's not because he had a life long interest in being near the start of the boat race.

He is one of the most over-rated keepers in the premier league, along with Sorenson. Does very little to make you go wow, what a save, is very bland, makes mistakes and would only be worth going for as a back up keeper.

So you haven't seen much of Green this season?

Given was phenomenal yesterday. I was particularly impressed by the way he stood and watched the Wiggies' opener sail into the goal. Yes please!

Boruc has had his share of horror moments for Celtic.

Hennessey? Pass.

Schwarzer may have looked good for Fulham, but he was very so-so for Boro.

I'm gonna go out on an optimistic limb here and say that by the time January comes, Gomez will have adjusted to the English game and will be playing brilliantly with full confidence.

I did however predict that Robbo would recapture his form...

And so he has if reports are to be believed.
