It seems that Danny Rose received dogs abuse when not playing well at Spurs.

I'd dread to think how vile some of their racist, classless, shithouse fans would be towards him in the event of a couple of bad performances.
I'm a stream watcher, so I don't know what the atmosphere's like in the ground, but the implication of racism is surprising, and disappointing if true. With our Yid Army background we've been at the forefront of opposing that kind of shite, and we've had a rainbow flag in the corner for a long time. As someone who identifies as a fervent supporter - I watch every game live, and keep up to date with da yoot - but can't attend in person, I'd be quite upset if this was true.

They're talking about Chelsea fans, are they not?

we're not exactly reliant on him at present.
We kinda are. Ben's great - but Danny's next-level great.

I still chuckle at the shit he was getting a few years ago, on here and elsewhere. He's the best player in our squad IMO. Or was pre-injury, anyway.

I've heard plenty of stuff that makes me cringe tbh about all races

I agree with that. He's not the only one who has received unfair criticism over the years. Look at Dembele: it wasn't that long ago that people were questioning his value in the team and that seems crazy now. Walker used to get stick from some quarters too. I'm not trying to be revisionist about Rose but just that I felt that we didn't fall to pieces without him. Saying that we didn't fall to pieces when Kane was out for a bit but I wouldn't exactly fancy us selling him.

From today's papers

Tottenham are not expected to entertain offers from Chelsea for full-back Danny Rose, 27, with the Blues ready to double his salary. (Evening Standard)

Manchester United are no longer interested in signing Rose, although the England international is desperate for a move to Old Trafford. (Daily Star)

I suspect the interview was always about going to United but we then countered with Martial so that United know the only way they get Danny is by strengthening us in the process. Doesn't leave Danny many options with neither City nor Liverpool interested and our policy not to sell to another London club.

Absolute baller move from Levy if this is right

Is it compulsory for bullshit merchants to imply that literally everyone linked, even in most vicarious of ways, to a transfer to Man Utd, is actually desperate to join Man Utd.

I'd be pretty reluctant to lose Rose this transfer window should we swap for Martial as it does weaken in that role quite a bit I think. However, one thing we have learnt about Poch is that he has a history of significantly improving his full backs (look at how Davies burst through Newcastle's defence to score). The biggest concern would be whether or not we plan on bringing in a LB to replace Rose because Davies on his own would leave us exposed. Tricky one.

I am just against selling Rose to a rival. He is one of our starting XI you could argue Walker was expendable due to Trippier, age and I always had him as the weak link. But selling Rose would be strengthening United or City and I don't see any of the benefit to us.

Tottenham confident Danny Rose will stay at Spurs after heart-to-heart with boss Mauricio Pochettino

Not about Rose - but in that "article" the Mirror twat describes Wimmer as a "flop" before going on to describe how he was signed for £4 million and is expected to be sold for £15 million.

Stuck behind Toby, Verts and Dier, Wimmer still managed to increase his value by %300. And he's a "flop"...

Fucking hell...

IMO, there are two sides to the Rose issue.

On one side, I agree that he was wrong to have that public outburst and should have spoken to the club in private about his grievances. (Anyway he might have done so previously without getting any assurances from the board/mgmt).

On the other side, he was probably aware that some of his team mates were feeling uneasy that teams lower in the table (and with lesser funds) were buying players early in the season to get the new players ready for the start of the season, whilst we were the only EPL club (at that point of time) not to sign any new player. Being one of the more senior players in the squad (and possibly willing to be shunted out of the club for his outburst), he might have decided to 'take one for the team' in order to stir the board to cough out some dosh to improve the first team (and not just the squad as a whole). If his outburst results in the board getting in more good/better players (in addition to DS) as well as improve the wages of the better players (e.g. Toby), then I think it would have been a worthwhile sacrifice.

I do hope that everything will be smoothened out between the player and the mgmt and that he stays at the club, provided he doesn't repeat his antics again.

Good post.... but I highly doubt Danny Rose has the brain capacity for this. Much more likely his agent got greedy after the Walker deal .

I have no qualms with anything DR said. None at all. If anything it helped/forced Levy get into gear.

There's no prizes for coming second. None. He said what many of us think. Rose is the best left back in the league..he deserves to be paid what is commensurate with that title.

Ben Davies is decent...but he's no Rose. Not by a long shot.

I doubt Levy's transfer plans were influenced by Rose's comments. All window ITK and Poch has been saying the club will be patient with incomings, now it's coming to the end of the window and we're making our moves.
