He just doesn't have the on the ball skill to be a good fit for what we need, in my opinion. For 15 million pounds, we can get a more impactful player to improve the first XI immediately.

Well, we could bring in Remy for half that amount, and have enough to add another CB like Schar, possibly. Or we could take that 15 million, plus extra income from sales of Sandro and actually buy Schneiderlin for Pochettino.

For a club with limited spending ability, spending a huge chunk of your transfer budget on Welbeck would be a mistake in my opinion.

Remy would be 11 mill and he's on 80k a week. so would be a far more expensive deal than Welbeck. Remy is also very overated. Although Welbeck technically is not a world beater, he can threaten in behind, decent in the air has got a good attitude and works for the team. Would be a much better buy than Remy. Saying that I don't think we'll sign him though.

With Levy's negotiating skill and his alternative being staying at QPR, I think we can get him for a cheaper fee and on less wages. He won't want to waste a season of his career there, especially if he wants to play for France in the Euros.

Agree, 100 percent. Welbeck is decent, but will NEVER develop into be a world beater. Spurs need to be smarter than this. Anything beyond £6-7 mill is a complete waste of money.

Didn't Redknapp recently say that the 11 million clause can only be activated by a champions league team?

I think Welbeck ticks a lot of boxes without being truly outstanding. But he's young and can improve with good coaching, he's got plenty of pace and is a pretty strong, powerful forward, decent technical/passing skills and hold up play, can play in multiple positions. I certainly don't think it would be a bad signing.

I know i could get slated for this but (even though i really like them both) i wouldnt be against selling Townsend and Soldado and bringing in Welbeck. Trim the squad of players and wages whilst covering two positions.

I like welbeck as he can play all along the front line but I think we need a more proven goal scorer like Remy first and if Townsend or Soldado goes look to bring in Welbeck

Balotelli's goalscoring record is actually pretty erratic, and there's got to be a reason Milan are offloading him after a season-and-a-bit. If Bodgers has signed him as a Suarez replacement the Scousers are in for a big disappointment.

Not that I'm at all convinced by the idea of Welbeck.
He is actually pretty consistent when he has a run of games. Balotelli is a gamble for Rodgers but there is not really anyone else who is attainable for them that has that bit of magic that Suarez had. If they can get his head right, he will be an excellent signing. Even if he is a little bit of trouble, he still might be worth it if he performs on the pitch to his potential.

Maybe someone should of told Fergie that before he made him a regular in a trophy winning team.

Fergie is football's version of King Midas. Everything he touched turned to gold. Many of his regulars in his final trophy challenging team were sub par, but he managed to make them gold. Now he's gone they've reverted to type.

Balotelli for Milan was the shadow of the player he was at Man city last season though. He scored goals but didn't particularly play well. Its a gamble, there is a brilliant player in there though.
