You were the one who said i should put some, 'thought and intelligence before i posted'. you did say that but its not there now loool and it doesnt say youve edited it either. strange.
I did, but I conceded that it was unfair and a bit harsh.

That it was. But then you went on to try and mug me off and say,
"Its tough if you feel your intelligence has been questioned".
Straight after you .......... Questioned my intelligence.

players like keane, berba and kanoute have been successful and players like postiga, bent, zamora not because they are very uncreative strikers, who are just finishers who make the odd decent run and get into good positions.

At Spurs our midfield has been shit for ages, no creativity and no defensive ability, no fight, no nothing! Hence why we have been mediocre since the early 90s.

creative forwards like these 3 have created their own goals and for each other, and thus have been a success.

This is what an intelligent man Ramos has noticed, and has gone about rectifying by signing Modic, Dos Santos and either Bentley or Capel. I suspect thats why we are not so down about losing Keane or Berbe because Ramos knows that with service, Darren Bent is the best british striker around.

Id back Bent to be top English/British goalscorer next season if he gets his chance.

Back to the original post. If either Keane or Berbe were to go, I would assume that Bent would get a good run out. In my opinion, given that our midfield has been strengthened, I think £10.00 bet at 66/1 is not a bad one. Unlikely to win but not as improbable as some has suggested.

Who ever said Bent is 66/1 for a reason is right. The reason is / reasons are . .

1) He's looked absolute shit in games for both club and country since he came to us.
2) Darren Bent scored a big bag full of goals in a poor Charlton team because they used to lump the ball foward to him at any given chance in a boring long ball 4-5-1.

Even if we did play Bent as the 1 up front in a 4-2-3-1 like someone suggested the 3 behind him would most likely be Dos Santos Modric and Lennon. This would mean having three players who all like to 'keep ball' and play to feet. Making us an even more anti-long ball team than we already are. 66/1 sounds pretty shite to me. Would rather take Bobby Zomora at fulham at 100/1!........

Why do you suppose that Bent can't cope with through balls along the ground to his feet? It's a pretty big assumption that he's only capable of succeeding in a side that relies on Route One. He's also handy and brave in the air, so if we've got decent crosses and corners coming in, he'll get on the end of them.

If you check his stats on the Telegraph, his chance conversion and GPM are near as dammit the same as Berba's, pretty good considering he's not had a decent run in the side, or time to build up any sort of understanding with a partner.

Just basing it on what ive seen of him in the last few years really. The bloke's hardly the Berba or Keane type striker when the balls at his feet.
Are the stats taken from just him time at spurs or over his pro carrer.

No, he isn't. He doesn't offer much more than goals. On the other hand, in what must have been his last game for Charlton, at Anfield, he absolutely terrorised Agger and Carragher. His touch is no worse than Defoe's—probably rather better. I think people are ridiculously harsh on him, mainly on account of his price-tag, when his opportunities have been so limited.

Stats for all current EPL players for the past three seasons are at http://telegraph.jumpmediagroup.com/PlayerStat.aspx?p1id=5127&p2id=3789

I don't think Bent is given as many chances as he deserves. If we aren't going to play him we should just sell him now because the longer it goes his value will get lower and lower and the amount we paid for him is going to look rather foolish.

Bents assists per min compared with Berbatov aren't too bad either, a bit lower admittedly, but to call him an uncreative player and just a finisher seems a bit harsh.

You know what, I hope Bent stays. he could do some damage next year.

My positive outlook/prediction is that he will be englands centre forward come end of the season too.

:bang: Frustration and disbelief

Bent will more than justify the 16 million price tag

Huddlestone will make sure of it.

Bent will have a tough time becoming top goalscorer in the premier leauge but he will be our top scorer, no question bout it.

Have seen nothing in Ramos's attitude towards Bent to suggest he has any intention of including him in his plans.

Ah yes, all those games he played him in and squads he picked him for. You're right. No indication whatsoever.

It can't be that I'm getting cleverererer? It just can't. At some stage it has to be people being stupid. (Not suggesting you are).

?? Well , many of us doubt that.

Huddlestone will make sure of it.

?? How ??

?? Is that assuming Berbs and Keane go and we don't sign any quality replacements or is that your view whatever ?

I'm surprised people are quick to get on Bents back. Last season, argueable we had the best strike partnership (bar rooney/ronaldo) in the premiership in Keane and Berbs.

They scored week in week out. Bent had to look on from the bench and hope that he scored when he finally got on the pitch.
When he did score from the pitch and played well, he was normally reduced to the bench the following week.

When he did get a game, it was also amongst some of the 'not so good' players, so always harder to play well when your surrounded by unperfoming donkeys.

Now, if Berba and Keane did bugger off, with the creativity we now have in midfield, I would be more than happy with bent leading the line.

He can score, he has proved it given the limited chances he has had, and writing him off before he really has had a crack at the whip is just bordering ridiculous.

Back to the initial point Bent could easily explode nect year and I feel my comments about him as Premiership Top Goalscorer were a bit exaggerated but that is why the bet would be eahc way. If he gets Spurs top goalscorer which is not that unbelievable in the current climate and activity in the transfer market, with just 18-20 league goals he should be in the top four and a easy pay off.

I realy don't get the issue with Bent, his return is as better than anyone else in the league who is not getting a regular game. I can't understand why people think we could get a more productive 3rd choice.

Like most of you, i don't want Keano or Berbs to go anywhere and how anyone can say that they aren't good together is beyond me - they've had the best strike partnership in the Prem for 2 years running now!!

We all know that Berba loves playing with Keano, and vice-versa, but the fact is if Keano leaves, then i think Berba will follow - in which case in my opinion Bent should be given a decent run-out!!

But i'm really worried, worried that we'll have mixed the team up so much that we'll be back in 'transition' phase!! :-(

Thoughts!
