Are we some kind of feeder club to Sunderland now? Fulop, Chimbonda, Tainio, Malbranque, A. Reid, now Bent (and I'm probably missing one or two names there...)

will his be the catalyst to start the transfer mayhem ball rolling?

I imagine we've got some cash without selling so I don't think the lack of purchases so far is due to us not selling any current squad members. But it does increase the warchest which is always a good thing (as long as we bring quality in).

For what it's worth I reckon Bent will go to Sunderland and score a hatful of goals.

One thing is we might try to time transfers more or less simultaneously, as selling Bent then waiting long for replacement might lead clubs to perceive us as desperate and thus press prices up....well, what do I know?

I'm 100 % certain that Bent will go on to score plenty of goals, apart from Defoe best natural goalscorer we've had for years. Always believed that if he'd taken that chance against Arsenal he'd never stoppped scoring for us. The guy's desperatly needs to play every week to build up confidence and when given a chance will flourish again.

Best of luck to him, but will sadly come back to haunt us, I'm afraid.

If it's Bent leaving plus extra cash to get Jones, then I don't see the point. I want neither of the above myself but an upgrade and/or someone who does n't need a GPS when they have their back to the goal.

i just want something to happen
this has been the most boring transfer window in the last 5 years
with harry in charge i was convinced he would of sold 13 players by now and brought in about 15 .....

To be fair it's only the 5th day the window has actually been open and more importantly we should hopefully be looking to add quality too rather than totally reshape our squad for once.

The most successful teams don't make wholesale changes in one window, it destroys stability and momentum, we have done too much of this in reach times.

A quiet window with the odd departure for players not needed and 2-3 quality players in to improve what we already have and I will be more than happy.

Boring maybe, but probably more productive than a high movement exciting window with players being shipped in and out of the Lane in a frenzy.

See that Sunderland have agreed a deal for Fraizer Campbell from Man Utd: might this have an effect on the Bent transfer to Sunderland? They're both similar styles of player (though Bent is far, far better in my opinion), so I wonder whether Sunderland will want both of them or whether they'll not bother with Bent now that Campbell looks to be on his way to them?

Sunderland going for Campbell and Hull turning to Zamora,
could it be Bent interest from Fulham?

Nah, Bent will go to Sunderland at midnight on the last day for £12m with Frazier Campbell coming to us on loan for the season.

12 mill is a pretty good price, especially if its all upfront. I know Levy likes to make his money back, and you can always say compared to this player or that player he is worth X, but its clear Harry doesnt really rate him and would rather have the money to get someone in who offers something different

Looks like the ITK linking Bent to a move to Everton is wrong as SSN are reporting that Everton have just signed Jo on a season long loan with a view to a permenant move.

Can't see them wanting both Jo and Bent.

Why not? They're not exactly flush with proven strikers.

They have Yakubu and Saha who have both had their injury problems and James Vaughan who is a youngster and now Jo.

Everton would be a good soultion, Bent would probably love to go there as it wouldnt be a step down (if anything a step up at present)

I think Everton would do well signing him, he would give them options to what they already have in attack.

The only question in my mind would be if they would spend the money on Bent or Moyes would rather pay next to nothing to uncover a rough diamond again.

We have signed him for overprice, but that does not mean that other clubs will sign him for overprice.
