he's still scored more goals than our strikers this season from the wing

his experience alone would be invaluable

if we moved him back inside to striker and played Bale off him I could see him scoring a boat load

if there's a chance we can get Villa then for me it's a no brainer, I'm not saying go all Redknapp and sign abunch of golden oldies but this guy here could take us to the next level

I'd replace Defoe with Villa in the blink of an eye

Considering Defoe is 30 that's an absolute no brainier indeed sir!

What's the deal with twitter stuff in here now? First time in since Feb 1st.

Anyway...a Barca News twitter is saying Villa to Spurs pending a few details. AVB met him earlier this month to convince him.

Signing Villa would trump van der Vaart for me. Sorry van boys (clever nickname for van der Vaart fan boys :jimlad: ) but I reckon Villa would be one classy s.o.b in this league.

We signed Klinsmann during Sugars tenure and his transfer policy was obviously so great it had us hovering around mediocrity for the best part of a decade.

Look, it's not an argument, it's a fact. We have a transfer policy of buying young talent with potential because we can't afford to throw money away on waining superstars.

You might not agree with my reasoning but unluckily for you it seems Dan Levy does and something tells me he is better business man than you - look at where we are in the league.

If you were Levy would you have said no when Real offered Van der Vaart for £8m?

Martin Lipton tweeted about David Villa a few days ago, but he says it's reliant on Champions League football. Oh well. This was the tweet: @MartinLipton: For number of reasons, that is possible. Villa is first choice, though - requires 4th [link]

I know there are doubters on here, and I can understand why; he does represent quite a risk given his age, recent injury and never having played in EPL. However, he could potentially be a revelation for us. Can play as part of a front 3 and is so ridiculously good in front of goal.

I don't even care he's 31, even a year with someone like him (a World Cup, Champion's League and La Liga winner) would be incredible.

don't forget the Euros lol

I will cream my pants at the sight of David Villa holding and wearing a Tottenham shirt

in my world this would be a huge signing, he's one of them continental super pros who look after themselves and are great role models

this guy is a complete legend

Graham Hunter:

David Villa to Spurs mentioned on @revistadelaliga last week. Gathering speed now. To be taken seriously. Not concluded but advancing

VDV was 27 when we signed him, not 31 and not on 150K per week. What is your point? VDV was just hitting his point not past it and on the way down. As soon as Rafa turned 30 Levy didn't think twice about getting shot when the opportunity presented itself.

As I said earlier the Catalan Media dont think that CL is a necessity as we started talking when arsenal had the advantage

He isnt on 150k a week from what I read and he is apparently more interested in the Premier League and the idea of living in London, his wages would be £20k-40k more than Dempsey
