There's an article out there with Mourinho's EL final tactics. One of them was to crowd out De Ligt so Sanchez had to have more of the ball.

Apparently he saw weakness in Sanchez's game and they saw to target him..

He was 20 then. His Ajax teammates mostly were teenagers. For their age, what they did last season was very impressive.

With more experience, better experienced pro around him, he can only improve.

He just reminds me of young Sergio Ramos, who when he started was brash raw & full of mistakes. But you could see that he would one day be a great player.

Anyone thought about maybe we're not after the sunny delight fella because he's similar to what we have in Toby and vertonghen already, We haven't got a player anywhere close to Sanchez in that position based on raw pace and power.

Knowing Poch I would not be surprised if he used him in midfield like he does with Dier as well as righ

I made the same point earlier in the thread about his Europa Final performance, he was clearly left to bring the ball out from the back and it worked for Man U several times.

However, there was no doubting his physical attributes. An absolute tank of a player. Very impressive recovery skills.

So much discussion of being close to signing this player or that player. Take a step back though. It is simply indefensible that we stand here about to kick off our season without a single signing to enhance our 1st team squad. We've only weakened it by selling Walker. Even in our most quiet summer transfer windows we made at least one decent early signing and then a flurry towards the end.

A single opportunity. We finished 2nd, played the best football, champions league for successive seasons, about to play a season at the national world renowned stadium followed by moving into the most modern football stadium in world. What a sell to most potential targets.

With all our scouting and knowledge of players out there, not one player deemed to improve our 1st squad can be secured. We've had months to plan for this important season.

There is no excuse for that. However you wrap it up or the Spurs PR machine tells players like Dele and eriksen to publicly say that we don't need signings, or Poch being his typical and impressive professional self.

I absolutely recall hearing comments from Poch towards the end of last season saying he wanted players in early and that we have a plan.

Very different words coming from the club now.

No excuses as much as some seem hell bent on dissing similar views to mine.

Saw Sanchez and nearly spat my coffee out.

Carry on.

Are you saying you saw Sanchez, accompanied by a couple of Spurs staff memebers, at your local coffee house in north London, taking a break from what looked like contract negotiations, and you spat your coffee out by the sight??
Is that what you're saying??

BBC using a pic of Bernard traore instead of Sanchez in their story about our interest o_O

If they don't know who he is what chance does Danny have?

I love the idea that signing someone who looks like and has been lauded by pundits all over as a player who could go on to be one of the best CBs in football is somehow a bad thing? Especially when you factor in Wimmer likely leaving for a substantial amount. We aren't in a position to miss out on deals like this. Every year we complain about not buying the Ousmane Dembeles when they're available for relative pennies and this is that exact scenario. Sign him up Levy.

The most ironic 'optimistic' rating I've ever given.

Supposedly article in de telegraaf with quotes from overmars saying they are offering him a big new contract?

Reading the article it sounds like they are going to refuse to sell him this year knowing they will get more next year
