In all seriousness though, McGrath was one hell of a player.
More powerful but less speedy than Ledley.

I think they (Paul and Ledley) were similar level players. Irish football fans feel similar about Paul as Spurs fans feel about Ledley. But for their respective issues they would both be remembered more broadly as greats. How good could Leds have been if it hadn't been for his injury problems?
About the time that McGrath left Manure, I was really hoping that he would join us. Would have been a major asset to the team.
I don't think it will change how often we deploy 3 at the back. We already were playing 3 at the back for a majority of our matches and if we sell Wimmer, we'll still be left with 4 recognized CBs (plus CCV, who cannot be considered a viable PL option right now). Playing 3 at the back exclusively will likely not be an option since we don't have complete cover for the formation in case of injury or suspension. However, this move will certainly give Poch more flexibility between defense and midfield with Dier not having to necessarily cover both CB and DM.Very promising signing. I'm not gonna lie I didn't know of the guy before we'd become linked but he sounds like a good acquisition. How do people expect we'll line up? Does it suggest we'll look to play 3 at the back more and he'll partner Vertonghen and Alderweireld?
I read an article which said he didn't speak Dutch or English.
Anyone know if Jan or Toby speak Spanish? Toby did spend time in Madrid but it might be optomistic to expect him to speak the language. And I was figuring he could talk with Jan & Toby in Dutch to confuse the opposition...

One of many lol
Yes, he was some player. Could have been as good as Ledley if not for injuries.

Hope we don't regret doing a double deal for Davinson and Klassen.
Thought Baresi was retired.
We won't. D&K is a world-renowned law firm that always represents their clients well.Hope we don't regret doing a double deal for Davinson and Klassen.
As a proud London Irish man I grew up idolising McGrath. My favourite Irish player of all time. Had all the tools. Good pace, great header and read the game better than any defender I've ever seen. Was amazing against Italy in 1994 World cup. Very accomplished midfielder too. And all this without training in the week! Would turn up on matchday and play like a Rolls Royce.
Yes he and Ledley with two knees between them would have been the best partnership football's seen (may be a tad biased)
I forgot Veltman..genuinely feels like 3 years ago.So all the links for veltman earlier in the window were a smokescreen for this guy then in the end?
Yeah, I always thought around 1989-90 he would have been terrific. And clearly Venables loved him. McGrath and Mabbutt as centre-backs on the 1991 FA Cup team would have been quite the combination.

You're overthinking it.So all the links for veltman earlier in the window were a smokescreen for this guy then in the end?
