Unfortunately a lot of people don't support Spurs, they support Lamela, Eriksen, Lloris and Ricardo Rodriguez.
Get out with that self-righteous bullshit.

You think you're a salt of the earth supporter because you're wet for Dawson???

Change your knickers, son.

Can I also remind everyone that our views mean shit in the bigger picture.

If you want him to stay or go it won't make a jot of difference to if he stays or goes.

Doesn't mean you can't show a modicum of respect

I dont think anybody in favour of Dawson would be heartbroken if he left, I just don't like the personal attacks on one of our most long serving players and club captain.

Where are the personal attacks? Just because he is no longer capable of playing the role in which we need him, does not mean that anyone thinks anything less of him personally, or that anyone is not thankful for his years of loyal service to the club.

At some point, teams that continue to get better will have turnover of even their longest serving players. Its ok. Its a sign of progress...

Hey @whitesocks what do you disagree with?

If there have been personal attacks, I have not seen them, or maybe I just ignored them.

And, you can't keep players on the team purely for the sake of loyalty - Spurs, like it or not, have to be able to raise funds in the transfer market to continue to invest in the club. They cannot afford to hold a player until he has no value. Its not personal, its just business. Going to a club like Hull is great for everyone involved imo - Dawson can continue playing for a team in Europa, Spurs free up a roster space and generate some money to re-invest in younger players.

Yes he's not really a suitable option for the future now but a little respect for his long standing contribution, which was always completely committed, wouldn't go a miss either to be honest.

It's not a sympathy vote for me. I'd keep Daws because of his passion and body on the line etc

When paired with a speedster at CB, Daws is quality. He's dominant in the air and full blooded.

I know he's clumsy and hopeless against world class quick feet, but if his partner reads the game well dand has serious speed, then we have great balance.

Kaboom has a bit to prove after his spell, Vlad has undoubted potential but is a season or two away from being top drawer, and Verts "lacklustre" season made me very fickle about his Spurs future.

We all seem to be accepting Poch is going to mercilessly drive on with his high line defensive formation. So how many CB's are we buying?

He is due a testimonial if he stays for another 6 months....
It's time for him to move on, but he should be awarded a testimonial nonetheless IMO. A wonderful, faithful, dedicated servant to our great club. His attitude towards AVB's original decision to offload him was particularly inspiring.

It was a friendly disagree - I should have expanded.

There have been some pretty poor remarks made in the thread about our captain,
which is disappointing.

But funnily enough it was your second point "teams that continue to get better will have turnover of even their longest serving players. Its ok. Its a sign of progress..." that I disagreed with more.

The turnover of players in recent years at spurs has been staggering.
We no longer have a core of 1st team players - I've no idea who the first choice striker is, or AM or DM or even the 1st choice CB. New players struggle to adapt as there is no pattern - just a swirl of individuals.

Does the uncertainly keep them all motivated? No - some players have an appalling attitude.
Are we making progress? If CL football is the goal, then no, it looks further away than ever.

Maybe Daw's time has now come, (although I felt he had a reasonable season),
but this change for the sake of change has got us no-where.

Apparently we want to sell but Daws is playing hard ball regarding the contract as he wants 4 years but Hull aren't prepared to match that.

According the the story on the front page (Star) it's because he wants compensating for not getting his testimonial.

"Dawson, 30, agreed in principle to join Hull on a three-year deal a fortnight ago, but he qualifies for a testimonial next January after a decade of service at White Hart Lane and won't leave until he gets a pay-off from Spurs."
