Reality is though if you look at out first 11 all bar son were bought in the past 2 years so that pretty much is a rebuild, 2 to 3 additional windows and 21 of the 25 squad are likely to have been at the club for less than 3 years.

At the start of the window the widely reported 'plan' was a new goalie, a starting CB and a back up CB, an attacking midfielder , a replacement for Moura/Danjuma (i.e back up winger option) and then to replace any other matchday squad outgoings that may crop up.

So i still expect a back up CB and as long as he fits the tall, quick 'Ange' model then i'm not fussed who it is tbh, the lad from Bournemouth looks perfectly acceptable for a back up that's replacing a player in Dier who doesn't fit the profile. Tosin would clearly be another decent option (if he is still an option?).

I also expect a forward option to replace Harry, but as Ange has repeatedly said he doesn't want a direct no.9 replacement, then a winger like Brennan Johnson is absolutely fine by me, i have always liked him, even if the price does seem high (we got Maddison for far less than going rate imo so paying a bit more for Johnson just balances it out, nothing to stress over, you win some you lose some).

I also like Gallagher, so if PEH does go then i'm onboard with him as well, he's better than Skipp and at this moment, better and more consistent than Sarr (although i do think Sarr will progress past him in time). Again he's ridiculously expensive but it is what it is, HG players are massively overpriced this window (thanks Chelsea).

I'd be pretty happy with our squad if those changes happened, i think Bentancour is due back after the International break so that'll be another boost and at present, we have a fit squad who are playing well.

In a perfect world i'd rather have a better, more inform striker than Richy, but it is what it is and i'm pretty sure we will be a top 6 side come Jan, when we could potentially address any major problems. I'd have taken top 6 when Ange joined and i think that's very achievable fro what we've seen so far.

Totally on board with this.

IN Whoever Ange wants most.
OUT Whoever Ange doesn't want.

I guess realistically we might get Johnson, Adarabioyo and Gallagher. Would prefer Schuurs personally. Orban would be a big bonus.
Outs would be as many as possible from Ndombele, PEH, Dier, Tanganga, Reguillon, Lloris.

Johnson (pace at RW) and Kelly (LCB cover) in.

Lloris, Dier, Tanganga, Ndombele and Reggie out.

If PEH goes then bring in Gallagher.

Worry about the striker when Richie/Son/Veliz have had half a season to see what they can do in the new system.

Focus on reducing squad size, age, and foreign/HG ratio.

We aren't going to get one, of course, but we need a top CF. Johnson is a wide forward. We can't rely on Richarlison all season up front.

I actually drafted the following...

I would have absolutely loved a striker of some pedigree (easier said than done with the lack of quality/willing forwards), but fully accept that won't happen.

...but couldn't even be arsed to post it as I know we aren't signing one.

Apparently Taremi's move to AC has collapsed. Prof saying a long shot non-HG is on the cards. Worth a gamble?

Don't know why people want the players we are linked with so much.... think they'd all be underwhelming personally

In: Antonio Silva, Wirtz, Gallagher and Pino
Out: Hugo, Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga, Reguilon, PEH, Sess, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Gil

I think johnson could do a job. Fastest player in the Prem last season and hit a decent goal contribution in the championship before coming up, is still young and COULD develop further to a top 6 talent. Also the HG element helps and if you split the £40m over him and Solomon in regards to investment in young wide talent it is not a bad deal and selling one of those in a couple of years if it isnt working for anything north of £20m would see the books well balanced in FFP. Is he going to score 20 a season, no, could he be a good understudy to the likes of Son and Kulu, yes. I think we are a 4,6 and 9 short still of a decent squad so hopefully we can bring in one of those in addition this window and the other 2 by this time next year (if not sooner).

The two players I’d love are Florian Wirtz and Evan Ferguson, but I’m not allowed nice things.

Not surprised at all with the way this window has gone for us. Getting Johnson in, no complaints as Ange is rebuilding with a young team. Gallagher would be cool especially if PEH goes.

Like most of the fanbase have realised for years, my main concern is not having another competent CB we can trust if Romero or VDV are suspended / injured and a striker to push Richie.

Not expecting much at all, if we get two in on deadline day that’s alright, but just alright not going to waste energy getting too annoyed.

However, very worried with not getting a striker in and another CB it’s another dry window I’m afraid. The board knew Kane would leave and also know of the deadwood we’ve had over 4 different managers.

Hope I’m wrong but yet another thing with this club we’ve been accustomed to. I cannot be bothered getting angry and hope the fans are patient with Ange as he has been dealt with a messy hand to put it lightly.

Fwiw anyone wanting Orban, or another 'proper' striker needs to remember we did buy the Argentinian lad who's 19 but has plenty of top flight experience in his homeland. Ange said we wouldn't see him this side of Xmas, but that isn't (imo) because he isn't thought up to it yet, more so to do with settling in and having a break (their season runs differently to ours so he's been playing while we've been resting). I fully expect to see him in our matchday squad in the 2nd half of the season, he wasn't brought as a player for the under 21 side !

I hope we do another surprise deal for a S. American for January or for next summer. Redondo. Leonardo. Somebody like that.

I can’t wait for next summer when Levy will have to find a new excuse not to buy a CB as we will literally have only Romero and VdV on the roster.

So as it stands:

In: Maddison, Vicario, Solomon, Phillips, Van der Ven, Veliz (Kulu, Porro).

Out: Kane, Winks, Moura, (Rodon, Spence, Parrott).

I’d be happy with:

Out: Dier, Ndombele, Reguilon, Tanganga, Hugo.

In: BJ. Gallagher if PEH goes. A legit #3 CB if Sanchez goes.

I can live with PEH staying. I can live with Sanchez staying. They’re fine as backups, they really are. I’d always thought of this as a legit transitional season anyway and the fact that we’re out of the League Cup already makes me less worried about getting in players for the sake of it. If we have an emergency need for a CB or ST in January then we go for it. I just don’t feel as worried as some people seem to be.

Won't be popular, but I'm hoping we get anyone but Johnson, really can't see the attraction. He's a good player in a poor team, expect he'd be bang average in ours at best.
