Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet has been on loan at Tottenham Hotspur since last summer. On April 14th, Marca reported the La Liga side will ‘try to get’ the north London club to buy the defender for €12-15m. It was also stated they haven’t opened talks with Spurs due to the managerial changes in London.

Nice guy, reasonable with the ball at his feet - but smacks of another bargain basement purchase rather than the level of quality we need.

Yup. Only way this makes any sense at all is if it's IN ADDITION to a proper, first choice, LCB.

Lenglet's decent on the ball, but he's just not a good enough defender to cut it in a 2 with Romero.

Would be a reasonable, affordable back-up and an upgrade on Tanganga and Sanchez (and maybe Dier?), but that's about it.

Totally agree with the above.

We are not going to see the best out of our attacking wing-backs until we have 3 top quality CBs that they can rely on as they bomb forward.

We still need 2 new additions at CB in the summer window. A CCB and a LCB.

Dier, Davies and Lenglet should only be considered as decent squad players from here on. We definitely need 2 new starters to both improve the quality of our defence and to show the fans a bit of ambition at the same time.

Agree, but at that price it's a bit of a no brainer. Don't know what wages we'd give him, but I like him as an option in games we are in control of (Yeah, right!)

Our defence has been horrendous this season, we've shipped more goals in the PL than all but a few clubs at the bottom.

Obviously that's not all Lenglet's fault, but he's part of it and we need better quality across the back line - particularly if the next manager moves to 4 not 3.

Imagine Dier and Lenglet in a back 4…. Messed myself just thinking about it

Guess it depends on the market. Probably hard to find a better back-up left sided CB of that quality for that price, but he'll be on pretty big wages and presumably want at least a 4 year contract so worth looking at young and/or homegrown alternatives too.

I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at other LCBs either instead of ,or as well as.

We need to ship out a number of the players in our underperforming team. I can see no point in keeping Lenglet.

His done okay. But he’s just going to be another one these players that we can’t get rid of in a few seasons time and end up staying here for eternity.

We shouldn’t really be making any of these decisions until a coach is picked anyway.

I really don't like these rumours/stories about signings and new contracts when we don't have a bloody manager in place to decide if they want them!

Bastoni cost £90 million, Gvardiol costs more than that, the likelihood of either of them joining is slim, but Lenglet, now there’s a deal. 😀

I think he's decent and wouldn't mind him staying. We're so open when in transition any defender would look shit for us. New coach, new tactics and I think Lenglet has enough about him to be a decent cog in the machine.
