Totally agree with the above.

We are not going to see the best out of our attacking wing-backs until we have 3 top quality CBs that they can rely on as they bomb forward.

We still need 2 new additions at CB in the summer window. A CCB and a LCB.

Dier, Davies and Lenglet should only be considered as decent squad players from here on. We definitely need 2 new starters to both improve the quality of our defence and to show the fans a bit of ambition at the same time.
Keeping the likes of of Dier, Davies and Lenglet as squad players is one of our club;s many problems. We need to get rid of all deadwood. Even coming off the bench they don't provide sufficient quality.

I really don't like these rumours/stories about signings and new contracts when we don't have a bloody manager in place to decide if they want them!
Another issue with our club!!! seems to be different manger option’s depending on our DOFs hearing and now allegedly signing players without a permanent manager, doesn’t make sense to me at all … apart from it does because it’s Levy and spurs!!

Our defence has been horrendous this season, we've shipped more goals in the PL than all but a few clubs at the bottom.

Obviously that's not all Lenglet's fault, but he's part of it and we need better quality across the back line - particularly if the next manager moves to 4 not 3.
He's not up to the standard we need for our starting XI, but he'd be more than adequate as our back-up LCB. He's reportedly on circa £150k p.w., which is far more likely to put us off buying him as a squad player than the reported transfer fee is.

Allegedly being the key word.

Not for me. We've got a squad packed full of players that are sort of OK but nothing special, including a load out on loan that we'd like to sell but are stuggling to shift. Don't see the point in adding more.

Which is why I used it 👍
The transfer window doesn't open for 2.5 months, so no transfers can be signed off before then (so any rumours should be taken as garbage gnereated by the media until then...and perhaps after the window opens too ha!). Conversely, we could hire a permanent manager before then, who would then have plenty of opportunity to influence transfer decisions. If the club chooses to negotiate deals in principle in the meantime (although I don't think they will), the new manager (and potentially new DoF) would have the option to get these deals progressed promptly when the window opens - if they they want those players - rather than starting negotiations on 1st July and potentially signing the same players closer to the start of the new season.

Personally I wouldn’t be exercising any option we have on this guy. He’s not good enough.

In the 19 games he has started, we have kept 3 clean sheets, although in 2 games we conceded after he came off (35th min v Southampton and 77th min v Everton).

In the 12 games he hasn't started, we have kept 6 clean sheets.

We have conceded 30 goals in the 1579 mins he has been on the pitch (1 every 52 mins).

We have conceded 15 goals in the 1211 mins he hasn't been on the pitch (1 every 80 mins).

I have nothing against his performance but I was hoping we could sign better…My guess is this is being driven by Levy who thinks he is getting a bargain…

The way I see it, is he better than Sanchez ?(yes), is he better than Tanganga? (currently yes), is he better than Dier? (in my opinion yes).

For that price we should be bringing him in and replacing the above players

The story literally says they haven't spoken to Spurs about it due to the managerial changes at the club. Its a none-sense click bait article.

"the La Liga side will ‘try to get’ the north London club to buy the defender for €12-15m. It was also stated they haven’t opened talks with Spurs due to the managerial changes in London."

The headline says deal is on track but goes on to say they haven't even spoken about it yet.
On the off chance that there is a possibility of a deal I'd just like to say NOOOOOOOO, why the f*** would we? No! just NO.

Levy ought to know by now that something that looks like a bargain in the short term can turn out to be anything but a bargain in the long term. How often has he bought a relatively 'cheap' player and then found 2 or 3 years later that nobody wants to pay decent fees for those players?

He's bought plenty of 'bargain' players that have turned out to be excellent too. It's the expensive ones he tends to fuck up on.

What with the Dier new deal and now Lenglet possibly signing on the cheap seems like Levy is getting in quick before the new manager can say no and doesn't need to sign a top more expensive option.
