I don't believe it will. Saints' ITK has been rather adamant he was set to be off even before stuff about Lovren picked up.
My guess is Deschamps was all up in his ear this summer about making a higher profile move; and with the chaos and uncertainty at Saints atm, he saw now as a good time to move not only to set himself up optimally to stake his claim for a spot in 2018 but also avoid possibly hurting his chances by remaining in such uncertainty.

As much as I don't mind Lovren coming in, I'm not sure he's worth that money. I can't help feel Liverpool have done this deal to stop us from getting one of our targets. Don't know, maybe I'm just being paranoid...

Clearly an overpay, but for me the funniest part is that with all the players they've added and all the money they've spent Lovren is probably the only one who improves their team right now in any significant way.

Their defensive play last year was pretty awful and while their back four are all good names on paper, something is wrong there.
