This sums up why I'm confident we "won't do a Spurs". Its not about the 'names', its about the player who the Manager knows will fit his why of playing the best. Lovren, in-particular after researching him a lot nd watching his games, will be brilliant for us next season.
Also, how can you know Capoue is better than Can? I bet you haven't seen much of him and he hasn't played enough yet to come to that conclusion. Capoue hasn't played enough either for you imo to know what his true ability is yet.
As usual seems a lot of tribalistic wishful thinking trying to make yourself feel better about your wasting of cash this time last year. Thats just MY opinion though.
You've signed a load of average players for way too much money though? Most of the players bought last summer suit Pochetinno's philosophy, you don't honestly think the top clubs go out and buy 'names' just for the sake of it do you? We have a DOF to ensure we buy the right players and recruit the right manager to maintain continuity. You should have a spare 20m in your pocket if you paid what those players are actually worth, even in the current market. People seem to be basing their idea of the 'current market' on complete exceptions like Shaw and David Luiz. There's a reason the players you have signed aren't 'names'.. Because they are bang average. I also think you may have struggled to attract your number 1 targets (Shaqiri, Reus etc) and had to settle for players like Markovic and Remy instead. Liverpool needed 'sure things' this summer to replace Suarez's impact last season and you have failed miserably and bought a load of players at over-inflated prices that you are hoping will come good. Remy and Lallana are 1 season wonders as far as you know. I wouldn't even call Lovren a 1 season wonder because I personally don't rate him but that's just my opinion. Markovic has potential but has very bad end product and I can't comment on Can as I haven't seen enough of him and I very much doubt you have either other than ITV4 highlights and youtube clips. Even in the current market the only decent deal you got is Lambert IMOhttp://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2014/07/liverpool-going-spurs-arent/

Fair enough point re Can and Capoue. I also think that in the main Rogers' has signed players with PL experience, besides which the core of the team is already strong and less reliant on Suarez's brilliance than we were on Bale's; this is down to the coaching as much as anything afaic. I'd also add that we can't expect miracles from Pochettino in his first season, his kind of coaching, like Rogers', can take a while to embed itself; I think Rogers' first season showed this, albeit we're not coming from as far back as Liverpool were forced to.
I do think however, it remains to be seen whether we wasted money last year, I think we've a massive amount of quality in the squad and I'm optimistic that Pochettino will find the way to unlock it, at which point it will not look like wasted money at all!
Whilst it would be unreasonable to expect immediate success under Pochettino its worth remembering that his coaching methods had a quick impact at Southampton, it was evident very early on.
Yes, well we've seen some of it already in the last friendly, however if it was a simple as a couple of weeks training and then the team works then great coaches wouldn't be in such short supply! Think about in any other field of endeavour, maybe one you've attempted, it always takes time to learn. I'm optimistic we'll see some improvement immediately, and that's in part because his system won't be a million miles from what some of these players have been used to before, but I'm far more optimistic that after a season or so we'll really start to see us play!
