Met them on the Eurostar back to Belgium after the game. They were going back for the international Matches. Had a good chat with Dembele, top bloke. Asked me how my Flemish was, which was embarrassing as I mumbled a few words back to him!

For a boring country, Belgium does offer the glutton in us a veritable smorgasbord of delights; Crepes and Waffles covered in sickly maple syrup, fat fried frites dolloped with huge globs of Mayonnaise, exquisitely crafted full-fat chocolates, all washed down with super strength beers brewed by Trappist monks who should know better.

I watched the second leg against Real in a bar in Brugge drinking absolutely delicious, fiendish beer. Next morning I couldn't remember anything about the game except Gomes fucking up and that we should have had a penalty.

What you want is some good ol' kasteel bier... small sizes.
You drink 4 or 5 because they taste superb and they're not pint sized, so what's the harm..., you notice nothing other than feeling very warm and good about how great the beer is and then when you go outside to leave you take a good whiff of fresh air and collapse as your legs have lost all ability to do anything.

The stuff is great!

But beer full stop in Belgium is superb and so many varieties! Living in Brussels was so so, apart from the beer which was epic.
