Weren't they shown together in a box at the Pompey game.
On-topic, In both of MJ's first two seasons Defoe was first choice and everyone was saying Keane would leave, both times Defoe lost form, lost his place and couldn't get it back because of the form of others.
I was seen with a member of the Sisters of Mercy the other week - doesn't make me Andrew Eldritch...
On Defoe, I think we were right to sell him. Its no surprise that he's banging them in for Pompey & I have little doubt the same would have happened if he'd gone to Villa, Man City or any decent PL team. The thing is that he was never likely to disrupt the Keane-Berba partnership & thus wouldn't sign a new contract. Fair enough, really. He didn't gripe or throw a strop but especially in the PC era (Post-C*mpbell), we needed commitment.
I also think we were right to stick with Bent over Defoe. Ok, not the most auspicious of starts for tha Bizzle but he's more versatile than JD & its good to see he's started to show some form in the last few games.
In short, I think it was the best deal for all concerned.
