What a fucking xenophobic pile of horse shit. Just because the monkey chants of the 80's are gone doesn't mean there are no racists fans in England. Point in case, BNP won a few seats didn't it?

Because the BNP are all football fans. You accuse people of flimsy arguements, but that has to be the flimsiest of the lot.

well said DP.

As for the difference between England and Spain, I reckon in terms of strength they are about equal, but in terms of watchability, it is La Liga every single time. Even the teams in the lower reaches of La Liga play far more attractive and purist football than 3/4 of the Premier League

And just like they are a minority in England, there are a minority of racists in Spain. Unfortunately they're vocal because of the weakness of clubs and the apathy of the league. The EPL, to its great credit, stamped out the expression, which La Liga hasn't. And yes that is a huge mark against it. But don't use that as flimsy ass excuse when we had supporters who have said some vicious things to Campbell (that fucking seaward) and been plasted over the media for it. And we've had some heated debates on this site over the Adebayor chants too.

:stupid:

Its FACT that a minority of spains football fans are racist and it has nothing to do with xenophobia you fool. In fact spain is well renowned for it, the reasons for it are irrelevent, the facts still stand. How dare you say im using that as a flimsy ass excuse, it was a reinforcement of my response to another post. In no way did i infer that spain is the ONLY country to be guilty of racism? oh and mind your language.

how much did we pay for didier? I am certain that when we signed him it was reported as 8.2 million EUROS. This was back in the days when there was an actual discrepancy in the worth of the two currencies so i thought that we paid about 6 mill. Can anyone re-inforce this or come close?

I will miss the guy as he seemed lovely and smiled a lot. liked him loads but of questionable ability. better midfield with wilson in than didier for sure.

I agree with bring back le gin its quite eye opening and amazing how good the quality of football even the tems relegated from La Liga this year played.

Also even in Italy some of the smaller sides do play some very nice football.

I feel there is so much money in the english game that it puts massive massive pressure on even new sides like Hull and Stoke to do well and they sacrifice the way they play. This doesn't exist in Spain and Italy and you quite often see very very good football.

The reason Spain doesnt attract the viewers the Prem does is that there is simply not the spread of talent that there is in the Prem. Last year for example Newcastle had Michael Owen, We have Luka Modric, Villa had John Carew(well known as he has played for big sides like Lyon and Roma), Man City's side is well known, Everton have Cahill (known in Asia for his role in the Australian team) etc. In Spain Barca, Madrid, Athletico, Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal seem to have most of the talent.

In Italy the problem is hooliganism. The Ultras mean that the game does not attract families and the new Sky Sports in the last 5 or so years means there is better tv coverage than ever before. There is also the problem of lack of spread of talent aswell.

Back topic the more I think about it the more I will miss Zoko,I think its a bad sale to be honest... Wilson is most deffo a better player than Zokora, but Hudd is not mobile enough and JJ floats in and out of games, Zoko was a more than average squad player.

I'll always be a supporter of Zoko because unlike some players he always gave 110% and played with a smile, sure technically he was not so great...neither was Freund but he was a legend too.

Thank fvck for that tbh.

I mean he seemed a good bloke, good attitude, tried hard, seemed a positive upbeat guy who genuinely liked the club but he was a fvcking atrocious footballer who really held us back a lot.

I think we placed huge reliance on him in the heart of our midfield and it really really hurt us the last few years. A lot of play flowed (or attempted to flow) through him and he really stunted our attacking game. On the flipside he was often relied upon to do the dirty work and make the last ditch tackles and he lacked the awareness, positional sense and tackling ability to do that job effectively.

Essentially zok was a jack of no trades, master of none. He had one thing going for him, his attitude, but that ain't enough to cut it at the highest level and bring a club forward.

Sad to see him go in a way, seemed like a great lad and i imagine he was great around the dressing room.

My fondest memory of him was when he ran through in the 85th minute at Wembley, one on one with Cech, everyone stood up as is usual when a player runs through and then almost everyone to a man said 'Bollocks its Zokora' and sat down again! Brilliant.

Sure he had faults as a footballer (mainly when it came to playing football) but one thing is for sure, if everyone in the squad showed the same passion, desire and commitment he did, we would have achieved far far more in the last 3 years.

Good bye Didier and good luck.

La Liga now has the 5 best players in the world and the best team in the world. Zokora is now playing for a top 3 team in that league as a starting CM. it's most certainly a step up and we're dreaming if we wouldn't want to be where he is now.

To be fair, he did give us the "I'm not watching the penalty" move.

And the barrel roll tackle.

And of course "the Zokora turn".

Will never forget when he was through on goal against Boro in the cup, and lashed wide when it was easier to score - even easier than the Chelsea cup final chance. I've given him some stick over the years - and the ironic/sad thing is that jimbo bought me (for his birthday, to see my reaction) a Zokora 4, home shirt. Which I've worn to every game since March.

Haha. It will sit proudly next to my Ginola 14 and my Hoddle 10.

Dooo dooo dooo Benoit Assou-Ekotto!

Come on man, "f'ing atrocious footballer"? Let's get a bit of perspective, please. I'm a f'ing atrocious footballer, as is my gran. Zokora is not Pele, is not Maradona but he's a rather good footballer for all that. He's played in some of our most successful recent line-ups, and he's overall done well for us, why say differently?

Ha, fair enough, that was a bit harsh but I dont think he "has done well for us". I think he was painfully average and technically very very poor.

As I said I think he held us back a good bit. I just think he never worked put for whatever reason and I think him going is a big positive because it now means we will finally be focused on an area were we have been sorely lacking for the last three seasons.

It saddens me that we have numpties here who, even if they didn't think he was good enough, can't at least have respect for a player who did his utmost for us and was part of some very nice moments at our club.

I didn't think he was a good player, his passing was limited and he was clueless outside of his own half, and on top of that i didn't like the fact that he was our one player who you could genuinely call a diver, but his reaction to Berbatovs penalty, his constant professionalism and his never say die attitude has won him a place in my heart at least, and while I'm not sad to see Zokora the player leave, I am sad to see Zokora the man leave.

Laters D-Zok. Your memory lives on. Like the time you nearly scored a wondergoal except it was nowhere near the goal. Great effort though.

Nah he was a decent player, always gave 100%, I used to think he was rubbish but last season when he was used as back-up and played all over the park I started rating him. It's not a Carrick-esque loss but yeah. Best of luck at Thebiya (that works in a Spanish accent :-|)

Good squad player & always gave an effort for us...thought he was excellent in the CC final against Utd. Strangely my opinion of him leaving is 'meh'. The OS was it's usual token 'can't be arsed to offer much on transfer' self.

Thanks Didi, but Wilson's the way forward.

Loyal and tireless, thanks for your dedication Didier and good luck in Spain. Hopefully his stamina will become an useful attribute there and, who knows, he may even score for them one day.
