That’s just not true about Poch. He had a tough first few months but from December in his first season we started to find form and show positive signs. In his 2nd season we finished 3rd. It did not ‘finally click a couple of years in’ and nor were people calling for his head beyond those first few months.
Yeah, but the fact that people were calling for his head in the first few months should tell you a lot about one of the things wrong with the club - us!!!

If we're so entitled that we expect instant results, no manager will ever be given a fair shake of it. Have a look at the poll at the top of the Mourinho thread. That number was there from minute one of his tenure.

S

Spurs fan for 30+ years yet they still find ways to surprise and fill me with horror. This is actually one of the lowest nights as a Spurs fan for me.
Along with watching us get shat on by West ham when we should have beaten them to finish 4th thanks to food poisoning

Also

Seeing us finish 4th and watching a shite Chelsea team beat an incredible Bayern Munich outfit after being outplayed throughout the game.

And

Watching Sissokos arm raise to meet that Mane cross

There's many more tbh tho :( i mean I love this team but fuck me they are sucking the life out of me.

I'm still in shock, don't know what to say really. Devastated.

I've got used to poor performances and results with Jose but this felt so much different, a result that will send shockwaves through our club, I just hope for only a short period rather than long term leaving lasting damage. I can't get over it at the moment that's for sure.

I have been waiting for Ndombele to be played deeper and Bale to start yet which we've now got but we still don't have any team worthy of challenging where it should be. I'm clinging onto Lo Celso coming into the midfield with Ndombele but I don't think it'll happen or work out with what Jose has produced so far with good players already in the team.

How are Hojbjerg Ndombele Kane Son Bale Reguillon part of such a dreadful team. I don't believe it is just the players, something is wrong with Mourinho's set-up.

Ignoring that though, Winks Dier and Sissoko just aren't good enough. Are they even midtable premier league level? Aurier and Sanchez show promise then have 3 brainfarts to remind you they need to go.

I think if we focus on the last paragraph for now, we could improve quite rapidly but I think the paragraph above would be the issue waiting after we resolve that last paragraph.

Bye Jose

Lloris interview very interesting. Just a snippet, its 7 minutes long!

"disgrace" he calls it.

Says current performances are related to "whats going on inside the club".

What do we think he means?

ooof. Any links available?

Didn't Liverpool lose the CL final and win it the season after, and come close second in the PL and win it the season after?

I'm sure it was devastating to lose out to Leicester and Liverpool but these are professional footballers.

I don't believe our players have been so mentally scarred that they're still suffering from the effects now.

think that the team was at the end of a cycle. I actually don't believe it had anything to do with the near misses - for one they rallied from leic to finish higher the following season and then make the CL final. Also, Poch was talking about a new cycle pre CL final.
Real issue was the group had given an awful lot including that very tough extended period at wembley. Mentally a big change was needed.
it was also evident why he was saying a new 5 year cycle....we needed to take a step back to take 2 steps fwd (as we had done in the first poch 5 year cycle). A number of stalwarts would have been sold at good money and some younger talent joined as part of a rebuild.
Now we have to do that anyway from a position of weakness

What did he say?

wish i could link it but don't know how...i will paraphrase:

'it's a disgrace'
'we used to be a team, be together, we're not anymore'
'the people who aren't regular starters aren't doing enough to help the team'
'we have ambition, but the team at the moment is a reflection on what is happening in the club - we lack the basics, we lack the fundementals'

I'd quite like it if we'd sold Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Davies and a few more.
Of the starting 11 tonight, I’d be happy if we sold Lloris, Davies, Dier, Sanchez, Doch, Winks, Sissoko, Moura and Dele. Pretty shocking!

Sounds like a pretty overt criticism of the manager to me. Everything that has been mentioned before. Lack of clear tactics training, lack of identity, lack of squad motivation.

If Jose is going to blame the players week in week out it's no surprise if they've given up on him.

We can now as we won’t have Europa getting in the way. Just remember, we are Spurs, so we’ll get 4th and then Liverpool will win the CL, Arse will win Europa and will join that exclusive list of teams in England to finish 4th but not qualify for the CL. I think it’s only happened to one team before but can’t remember who it was?
It was S****horpe United, in case anyone's interested.

it does sound like Jose criticism.

to me also alludes to some player problems inside the camp - perhaps those who aren't playing regularly angling to leave and not pulling their weight. or god forbid the squad think Kane wants out.

interesting that the entire starting 11 were all poch players and included no signing under mourinhio... only just realised, wonder if this isnt just co-incidence and part of the obvious fall out that going on behind the scenes??

Didn't sound like that to me at all :cautious:
