He questioned the amount of depth we had after the Bournemouth game which suggested to me he wants more players in January.

Thanks Dovahkiin!

Lol...if this is the truth, why did we take the last month and a half off in the Summer TW? We had time to find the pieces and just sat and waited, for Sissoko. Ugh...

Is there much out there than can clearly improve on what we have? Especially considering our budget constraints.

It's the downside to being a good team. Harder to improve it! And I don't think it is just us that has the problem. I don't think any of the teams in the English top flight are great teams at the moment. They all have weaknesses.

A major reason for our recent competitiveness is Poch's system. But I also think it makes it harder to purchase players. In my opinion we could do with a couple of older heads in the team, in the ilk of a Naybet or VDV (not necessarily in their positions but that kind of impact and influence) but those older heads wouldn't fit in with Poch's high intensity style.

I think there are plenty of options out there, just have to have intent and an open mind. Either way, I am not a scout or the head of scouting, but I find it short sighted to not see your squads issues when they are blatantly present.

As for Poch's system. Yes and no. More and more clubs are playing the high intensity version and HIIT is a preferred way of training professional athletes. Running isn't something Footballers should struggle with. Its mentality that you have to screen for and for me there are plenty of hungry kids out there waiting for a chance.

You're probably right regarding there being options but I just personally feel there is a bit of a dearth of talent at the moment. Just generally. When players like Pogba or Neymer are regarded as great, then I have to question comparative to who? In my view they're good players, but nowhere near great.

I think this high intensity pressing is the current "in" thing and it will disappear again (pressing has been the "in" thing before) once teams learn to counter it effectively. Which will happen. Most things in football are cyclical I've discovered over the years.

At the moment, i tend to agree on Pogba. But Neymar? He is world class.

pogba i agree but neymar is a great player comparative to anyone from any era. at 24 he's brazil's 4th highest goalscorer of all time and should pass romario, ronaldo and pele unless he gets injured, or fat.
