Does avb know how to manage a large squad?

His man management is really going to be tested. Lots of good players are going to be left out in crucial games. Can he keep them happy?

Yes, as everyone knows our goals and bought into them. Why do you think he won't? Why look at this negatively.

Spurs need 100% support and no doubters!!

Did you see his relationship with the lads last year and their celebrations after those wins vs West Ham, United, City, Arsenal etc.?

I think he'll be fine and we'll be fine.

No of course he won't keep everyone happy.
But he has shown good management skills so far
and the arrival of some silverware
and ascendency into the top four will lessen any lingering sense of hurt.
Both of these are on the cards.
Success is a great healer.
The squad is big enough and deep enough to ship out any unhappy bunnies.
but it wont happen for a year or so.
Except in the case of Adebayor of course and he's highly expendable after last year.

Yes he will be fine avb has a good relationship with everyone barr ade and benny but even mother Teresa would struggle with them two.

freund helps massage any egos avb and martins specialise on the tactical side of things.

what a conundrum to have hey? :)

I understand the gelling period of the players but how we are only 6th fav for the title I will never know. I honestly think we will win the title I just have this feeling.

20/1 is about the best you'll get, we are the same as Liverpool at some bookies  like fuck.

If our players moved to any team above us in the league (apart from Arsenal although we're above them now) or to Barca/Madrid/Bayern they'd have to fight for their place in the team. Now our squad is at a level to compete with the top 3 teams so if anyone throws a strop or becomes disruptive they can be moved on and replaced. This will only be an issue if we start loosing and get knocked out of the cups early.

We need a large squad of quality players because they won't all be fit all the time, and for a change I'm not shitting myself about players getting injured because we have good replacements in nearly every area of the pitch.

Same size squad as last year 25 players.

As for odds of winning the title, who gives a fuck? If you think we can win, put a bet on.

Not counting Bale, our first team squad as it stands has 25 players. Expect at least 3-5 departures before the transfer window shuts on Monday night, Ade, BAE and possibly Gomes seem likely to go plus a couple of our younger players such as Fryers and Carroll might go out on loan to gain more first team experience. That leaves us with a smaller squad than last year even if we sign a couple more.

GK: Lloris, Friedel, (Archer)
FB: Walker, Rose, Naughton, (NEW)
CB: Vertonghen, Kaboul, Dawson, Chririches
MC: Paulinho, Capoue, Dembélé, Sandro
AMC: Eriksen, Holtby, Sigurdsson
WF: Lennon, Townsend, Chadli, Lamela
ST: Soldado, Defoe (NEW)

Not counting possible new players (NEW), that's 22 players, not big at all. The matchday squad consist of 11 starters and 7 subs, that's 18 in total with 4 players sitting out (or knowing our luck with injuries looking at pictures of Darren Anderton in the physioroom...)

With the knowledge that we have a couple of auxiliary players such as Vertonghen (CB/FB), Kaboul (CB/FB), Capoue (MC/CB), all of our AMC's (AMC/MC), and Chadli (WF/ST), Lamela (WF/ST) we have a strong and balanced squad in nearly every area even if we don't sign more players.

If we have a good run in the cups and in Europe, AVB should be able to give everyone games and thus keeping the squad happy.

He has a squad of players who all want to play football, just like every season. He's done this before and he'll be fine this time. We aren't Chelsea.

I think the OP is asking a fair enough question, the quality of players have gone up a notch, with still maybe more to come in.

I think it's a fair question too. United, Chelsea and City have all had large squads in which from week to week we may see a slightly different team coming out, whether it be Young instead Nani for United, Cleverly in midfield over Scholes/Giggs, Dzeko playing over Tevez for City, Milner instead of Nasri and for Chelsea having Ba over Torres, Oscar over Lampard etc.

We've always really had a best 11 and that's it, a team that picks itself. We now have a large selection of quality players and it will be really interesting to see if we make small personnel changes periodically or just have an obvious strongest 11.

For the record, I'm not jumping on the 'players are going to be unhappy now' bandwagon, but I'm just intrigued to see how we're going to utilise our squad. Mostly in concern with Dembele/Eriksen, Sandro/Capoue, Townsend/Lennon/Chadli. I'm hoping we don't change our back 4 much to be honest.
