Sky Italia and Gazzetta Dello Sport are apparently reporting that we've officially tabled a 34m Euro offer.

That's about 25 million- a lot to spend on a WF when we need a CF. I think he's real quality but if he can't play CF to cover Kane, I struggle to see the logic in this move when we're well stocked in the WF position.

Just a thought - Henry was a "WF" when Arsenal bought him...

I think only Gazetta have reported an offer, and they are full of shit. Sky Italia (basically Di Marzio) have only reported strong interest.

I was actually under the impression that he is primarily a striker who can also play wide. Never seen him play though so that's not from personal observation, just what I've read. It's also about the same amount we bid for Berahino on deadline day last window so it's a rumour that is within the realms of possibility (cue trix or JJ coming on here saying it's not happening).

Ahh right, I may have got that confused.

From what I can see he's definitely a WF, who has played up front in the past, but not for 2 or 3 seasons.

He can certainly play upfront and if anything i would say his skills are better suited to a CF then a WF but he has played there for a while due to him being the best option Sassuolo has on the right. Personally i would have no qualms about him being brought in to substitute for Kane. Has a different skill set to the likes of Lamela or Son.

If he has the versatility that Berahino offers but clearly has a lot more talent and is available at roughly the same price, I hope we go for it; it would be a real statement of intent.

Can't see this happening considering we aren't Man United and spend huge sums of money on players we don't necessarily need.

I read that sassuolo turnover 40m a year. could they really turn down a 34m euro bid?

It is not their decision if Juventus have first refusal.
Don't they have but back in the summer, not this Jan window? And we want a player up top enough can play mixed positions not just cf so he looks the exact type we want. If we have a chance he will come of course

Does anyone have any insight or credible knowledge on how buyback clauses work? Could we bypass Juve if we paid enough or do they have all the power over what happens to him?

Good thought. After all we are playing a CB as a defensive midfielder when we have failed to buy a decent one so it all depends what Poch has identified as a player who can improve the team/squad

I just cant see Juve letting this guy go.
Juventus don't own him.

I think if we made a big offer they couldn't refuse, it would then be up to Juventus to decide if they want to activate their buy-back clause. If they do, then we'd have to look elsewhere. If they decided not to buy him, they would therefore be allowing Sassuolo to sell him to us. Ultimately, Juventus have no say in what offers Sassuolo accept, but if they did accept an offer then they'd have lots of power as they could just decide to buy him cheaply then.

I think.
