On 2 September 2013, Juventus confirmed via their official website that Berardi had joined the club on a co-ownership basis that sawLuca Marrone transfer in the opposite direction, both for a fee of €4.5 million.[10] Berardi remained with Sassuolo on a season-long loan deal for the 2013–14 season.[11][12] He made his Serie A debut at the age of 19, in a 1–1 away draw against Napoli, on 25 September 2013.[13] He scored his first Serie A goal from a penalty on 6 October 2013, in a 3–1 defeat to Parma.[14] On 20 October, he scored a penalty as Sassuolo defeatedBologna 2–1 for their first Serie A win, moving them off bottom spot.[15]

He scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, in Sassuolo's first ever Serie A away win, 4–3 against Sampdoria on 3 November 2013.[16]

On 12 January 2014, Berardi scored all four goals in a 4–3 home win against Milan. In doing so, he became the second youngest player to score four goals in a single Serie Amatch – the youngest was the 18-year-old Silvio Piola in 1931 – and the first player to score four in a league match against Milan.[17][18]

On 6 May 2014, Berardi scored a first-half hat-trick in 4–3 away win at Fiorentina.[19][20] He finished the season with 16 goals in 29 games in the league as Sassuolo avoided relegation.[5]

In July 2014, it was confirmed that Berardi was to stay at Sassuolo for another season;[21] the co-ownership deal was also renewed on 20 June 2014.[22]

On 25 June 2015 it was announced through an official statement that co-ownership was resolved in favour of Sassuolo for €10 million.[26][27][28] It was reported that it was part of Simone Zaza's deal to Juventus. However, Juventus also retained the option to bring Berardi back to Turin in 2016.[29]

That suggests one of two things:
either he's theirs to sell or
Juve can activate the clause even if another club comes in with an offer

I suppose we force Juve's hand by making an early offer that's generous to Sassuolo and see what happens. If, of course, there's any mileage in this story- which I hope there is.

I think both is the case. They can sell him and accept any offer they want but only if Juventus don't activate the clause at any point.

Would it then be the Toby situation though, where the player could still decide to go elsewhere?

Don't they have but back in the summer, not this Jan window? And we want a player up top enough can play mixed positions not just cf so he looks the exact type we want. If we have a chance he will come of course
Yeah, I've read that the clause is only an option in the next summer transfer window and can't be exercised this January so Sassuolo could sell him for a higher price next month without having to accept Juventus' offer. No idea if this is actually the case though; co-ownership deals are complicated.

Well it's a weird few quotes anyway. Why even mention that surprises happen and they can be proved wrong?

As I said earlier in the thread. 34m euros is an enormous amount of money to a club like Sassuolo. They may only turnover 50m euros all season.

The profile of the player also matches what Levy is looking for. Id say this is a goer.

Bit easier to read....

“Berardi to Tottenham?” Di Francesco considered, speaking to Sky.

“The club told me the opposite. He went to London, that’s true, but only on holiday. I talked to the lad, and he said absolutely not.

“So I’m comfortable from that point of view, even though surprises are always around the corner in football and we can always be proved wrong.”

If this bloke is speaking to Sky then it's unlikely either club or the player will tell him anything surely?

Edit: just realised he's the Sassuolo coach, still can't see him confirming any interest if there was any.

Sounds like Berardi is pulling a fast one. Me boss? Nah, just a site seeing visit.

Surely it's similar to the Toby situation, if the player wants to join Spurs and not Juve you cant force the lad, even if they have a buy-out.

Not saying I think there's any truth to this, but it's a player I'd like us to bring in.

I see it as agents working their magic to drum up interest one way or the other for possibly club that has option, or something similar to club he ideally would love to go (not us).
