If Holtby had been sold when Sherwood was in charge, this place would have exploded.
Where has his fan club gone?

I have no problem with Naughton. Just don't think we need 4 rightbacks and Dier.

Dier is a center back who has covered for walker so far. Yedlin may be a winger for all we know, Lennon looks to be on his last season.

I'll definitely miss the guy, and I still think he would be more suited to a role in the three behind the striker than Lennon and Townsend look to be (at least when the former seems to be seen as a left winger for some fucked up reason). And with four tournaments, he would have gotten plenty of playing time.

Oh well, we'll move on. Just seems like a waste.

After an impressive pre-season I thought he was going to get a run in the team, but it was not to be. Thought he offered more creativity than some of our other midfield options (that are all very alike) but this is the third Spurs manager in a row that hasn't used him....I suppose they know best?

Good new all round and best of luck to him, I think he was a trier, but maybe just not suited to the PL, either way we have players looking a better fit for us and he is back in the BL where he seems to be able to show his qualities far more effectively and we get £5 mill more in the kitty for Jan.

No- we don't get paid until end of full season and Hamburg are skint

I really liked Holtby's enthusiasm and passion and hoped he would be able to stake a claim for himself in our midfield. He seemed ideal for Mauricio's pressing game too. Strange decision and as others have suggested there appears to be other issues that have affected his time with us.

I'm a little annoyed as Poch is 'trying' to mould players into his philosophy, and I thought Holtby could be perfect for the Intense pressing game we're adapting.

All that needed to happen was for him to gain positional discipline. All the other attributes seemed to be there.

selling Holtby and Siggy while keeping Pauilinho....? All about the bottom line. 17 mil for Pauli means more to our ownership than what he does on the pitch. While Lewis and Siggy wer expendable by comparison based on what we paid for them.

See him continuing to do well, baffled by this decision to be honest.
Offloading talented ones ahead of the dead wood whats new.

The problem with Holtby, I believe, is not ability but one of positional discipline. He's has a habit of chasing things down which can have a detrimental effect on team or collective pressing

I'm very disappointed to see him go. I think he still has loads of potential. He's still a young lad and perhaps living abroad wasn't right for him at this point. Who knows? Siggy and Holtby left, one would've been enough for me.

Good luck Lewis nevertheless!
