Tottenham agree Adebayor loan deal

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Manchester City.

The Togolese striker is on the hunt for a new club after being told he is not in Roberto Mancini's plans for the upcoming season.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been on a look out for a striker to boost his firepower for their Barclays Premier League and Europa League campaigns.

And according to Sky Sports News, the North London club have agreed a deal to take the 27-year-old on loan at White Hart Lane.

Adebayor did go on loan with Spanish giants Real Madrid for the whole of last season and impressed with eight goals.

His preference was to land a permanent deal at Santiago Bernabeu but Madrid coach Jose Mourinho decided against taking the former Arsenal striker in.

Already a hate-figure amongst Arsenal fans for his provocative celebration in Manchester City's 4-2 win over the Gunners, his move to London rivals Tottenham will only do further harm to his reputation at the Emirates.

Not saying it is gonna happen, or be this way, but: we could bring him in on loan with the provisio that if he helps fire us into the CL, we will be able to buy him on a healthier wage next season, if not Citeh can sell to a CL side/side that can pay his wages.

I am sure, as others have said, he does realise he won't get the wages Citeh are paying anywhere else - unless it is some obscure ultra-wealthy former Soviet Union backwater. On the other hand, surely even Citeh wouldn't pay him £100,000 PW to play for an arch-rival:shrug: I know folk have ben saying that in the wider scheme of things that can't actually afford to pay him for a full year on a full wage to not even be in their squad. I suspect that what would be far more likely, and lead to incredibly indepth negotiating, would be arranging a deal where he accepts the reduced wage we might be able to pay if we qualify for CL next season (say, for instance £110,000 PW - a meagreEek), and we pay £70,000 or so, and Citeh make up the shortfall, just for this season.

But it is all speculation.

simple, hes not getting 170k a week unless he sits out his contract, i dont know why man city wouldnt want to do some deal with somebody to get rid, even if it means giving him away so spurs can pay him 170k a week for 2 seasons or sommat.

I think it makes absolutely loads of sense

Adebayor is a potentially very good player, and one we would want on our books. He is however a little bit temperamental.

Over the course of this year we could either be making sure he stays (cause City will still want to sell him to someone at the end of the loan), looking for alternatives or blooding youngsters. There's very little downside IMO.

Ideally we'd want some kind of option to buy at the end of the loan at a fixed price so there would be NO downside, but given our restrictions on wages and the limits that provides us with, getting a player of his calibre would be absolutely brilliant, one season or not

Would be fantastic with the first Togolese player to wear a Spurs shirt! I really hope we can struck a deal to sign Adebayor.

POTL - "Blue getting Closer"

so this is blue then, blue as in man city shirt? hope not as that would be a bit misleading considering he has been wearing the white of madrid, and city is sky blue

It wont be back to square one if he fires us to the Champions League. Even if at the very worst we only have him for one season, it's better than not having a top class forward for this season.

I hope that if we do get him though that we get someone like Leandro as well. That way in 1 year from now he should be ready to step up, whether it's to compete with Ade or replace him.

Sincerely hope this happens, think him and VDV could be mustard together and he would thrive with Lennon/Bale supplying the bullets.

I would be very surprised if they let us have him, it would mean that they don't rate us at all.
