My point is about judging what is right or wrong and who decides. There’s been discussion about freedom of speech and even thought. The reality is that everybody has different criteria.
Yes they do. People are like that.

As a society we discuss what is correct behaviour and what is legal and illegal.

Greg Clarke didn't get pressured into resigning because of freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is not about being able to say whatever you want without consequence.

There’s consequences to everything, I don’t think anybody would deny that. It’s how far we’re prepared to extend that

a good mate of mine was with the lovely Jenny for several years she had come over from SA to escape from being known as a "Cape Coloured"

Yeah you get those.. They a minority and would likely have dated a white guy too... But I'm guessing more than anything wrt to your Jenny you speak of. ... We had a term for it in the 70'to 90's...we referred to them as "play whites" it was person of colour/coloured who was fair enough to pass as white... Had a few in my extended family... But they were products of the apartheid system in their thinking....and used their features to escape a life of poverty.

Ironically its the cape coloured who are extremely vocal and protective of their coloured identity... They are passionate about being known as coloured. The south African govt would love to reclassify coloureds as black but we not having it...

It was in response to the bit about several thousand years of mankind, the point being that some people think it’s ok to stone others to death, some think you can’t say “coloured”. They can’t all be right

It's not rocket science.

No one should be harming other people, emotionally or otherwise, for reasons as simple as their physical attributes, sexual orientation, or beliefs.

Offensive labels are incredibly simple (for a person who considers themselves 'intelligent') to avoid. No one should be defending the use of the term 'coloured'.

I’m not sure anybody is. I’m simply comparing attitudes

I really cannot see how or why anyone can even argue about this issue. If you want to know why people find the term 'coloured' so offensive then have a look at these Jim Crow era signs from the US and educate yourself a little.

But but freedom of speech/thought (insert other excuse/lack of education here)
