I've been quietly looking forward to this ODI series, but once again the English weather is wreaking havoc and so far we've only got through 6 overs.

On the brightside, if we can demolish the Aussies this series then it'll mean we're No1. in all formats of the game. An incredible achievement.

Panic setting in for the Aussies? Just as a partnership was forming as well.

we're all over them today. Superb bowling all round and amazing run-out by Finn.

Who needs the England football when you've got these guys? Consistently deliver - I fuckin' love 'em!

the sooner we stop experimenting and get serious, the sooner we will start winning

I dont see Bailey and Forest as long term players in our full strength line up.

And as for the bowling, Pattinson, Siddle and Harris are probably our front line together with Cummins. Not really sure why Mitchell is being rushed back as he was and still is shit.

I'm not exactly sure why we are experimenting so much at the moment as its not as though there is a world cup just around the corner and most of these guys are not in our test team so its not doing us any good as a warm up for the ashes.

Very confusing.

England have a team now that will dominate for years, everyone else will be playing catch up

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, it's the weather that stop us being No.1 in the world across all forms of the game.

Pattinson got mullered yesterday, which is a good thing for him IMO, as the Aussies have been bumming him out since his test debut and this is a good dose of reality for him. He's not the messiah.

Looks like the rain will have saved you in terms of top spot. I fear for the Aussies next summer, because test wise you're nowhere near as strong as you are in one-dayers and if this series, the last ashes series and our test form on home soil is anything to go by, then you're in serious trouble.

Bollocks. Australia are a hell of a lot weaker than England now, no matter who Australia put out. You'll be playing catch up for a while!

you guys only need to win 4 zip which is still a white wash, so if we dont win the last one you guys go to the

I cant see us doing much with this team, we'd need to at or near full strength to beat you guys at home

Nay, I think it needed to be 5-0. You will stay top even with a 4-0.

I am delighted with this and the news we could have been top of all three formats of the game if we beat Australia 5-0. It was 13 years ago we were bottom of the test rankings and look at us now. Credit must go to Duncan Fletcher and Andrew Flower who have instilled a winning mentality and totally changed our approach to the game and credit to the ECB and the selectors who have done as much to make us a real force in Cricket. We haven't really been at this point since actual tests began.

was a good come back, still goes to show how woeful they are rescuing the innings to 140 odd. Long may it continue
