Luckily i wasnt watching ITV broadcast but Nice to see Sam Matterface getting called out on his ridiculously shitty commentary and the line he used when Kane missed.

What ITV were thinking promoting this bellend to top commentator spot is beyond me?!

Who's called him out?

England played extremely well. It wasn’t our night. Lots to be positive about from this WC showing.
There is and England have a lot to look forward to in the next few years but we should also remember that France took advantage of their situation immediately (Mbappe era) and could even double up.

England won't do that of they can't be more decisive

It still has to be noted that our ability to create chances from open play is poor.

We are too dependent upon individual moments of skill. When France wanted to attack they looked more dangerous, with fast passing and overloads pulling our defence all over the place.
I find it ironic that Harry's gonna get a load of shit over his missed penalty tonight, as if he's the cause of our demise, when over recent tournaments we'd have gotten nowhere without his high penalty success rate.

Under Southgate our main threats in big games have remained 1) win a penalty for Kane to smash in, or 2) stick a corner on slabhead Maguires noggin.

New ideas needed imo, but Southgate will remain for so long as we continue to make quarter finals

So he should. Saved is one thing, skying it deserves all the shit

You, my friend are everything wrong with the world. Thinking that another human being deserves to be 'given shit' over missing a penalty in a sports competition. Jesus fucking christ, grow up.

Cant believe people have NEG'D me. His penalty was dog shit.let go of emotion and see the truth.

We lost because he missed it

You sum up the stupidity and fickleness of the modern supporter, particularly here in England.

Firstly, any one can miss a penalty. The best players in the world have blazed penalties over, hit the bar etc. It’s even more difficult when you’re up against a keeper who you train against every single day and have done so for 8/9 years.

Secondly, we lost because we conceded 2 goals and more importantly failed to take our massive chances at 1-1.

The Maguire header and Saka miss were huge chances when we were on top and would have given us a 2-1 lead. We’d have won the game from that point imo.

To say Kane deserves the abuse because he missed the penalty is quite frankly a disgrace. Call yourself a Spurs fan? Or even an England fan? Do me a favour.

You’re everything wrong with the modern football fan.

For the oldies who can rememeber expect Harry will get the same treatment back in England as Jeff Astle did after the 1970 world cup and Harry is not alone with England misses.

DAVID BECKHAM, ENGLAND 0-0 TURKEY, EUROPEAN QUALIFIER, 2003

Becks ballooned this opportunity against Turkey in a crucial Euro 2004 qualifier, then went on to miss another against France in the first group game of the tournament after Barthez saved. Worse was to come, when Beckham missed another penalty against Portugal in similar fashion to his Turkey strike, helping put England out in the quarter-finals.

England for all their team spirit and togetherness, and playing as a team, once in the last third players become individuals. I do feel there is no game play in the last third, players are left isolated looking for free kicks and penalties. France looked for combinations , they pulled the England backs to create openings. England sent players into the French back 4 who become isolated looking for fouls . England’s best efforts were long range efforts, penalty shouts and free kicks. England threatened but without conviction . France were the better team together although England threatened to be better team ,promising a lot without delivery.

Don’t necessarily disagree with you but who do we replace him with?
It's not that I think he *should* go. If he stayed then I wouldn't be unhappy, it's just the nature of managerial cycles. When you've gone close three times without winning then no matter how competent you are (and he is), you take on the tag of a 'loser'. I don't think Southgate is a loser, but it's difficult to keep marching your team up to the top of the hill only not to reach it, and keep telling them that this time you'll get there, promise.

Who to replace him with? As long as the FA look at where our squad is, where it will be in two, four, six years time and try to find a manager that will be able to work with their strengths then I'll be happy.

I hope Lloris found the time to go over and properly console Harry at some point. I didn't see it happen as part of the TV coverage. Sure he is part of the French football squad at the moment and has other teammates to consider, but given the amount of time they spend together the empathy such an act would show would be invaluable.

The other day she said ‘Richarlison has 19 goals in 40 games, you do the math that’s a goal a game’

That was the second most stupid thing she's said this week which is quite stunning.

To be honest, I’m glad we didn’t limp out.

that turgid football woth zero effort.

unlucky with the pen, he’s gone for the roof of the net but missed, it happens.

decent game though and no complaints as I do still believe last night saw the winning team, 2 best teams so far in the whole tournament last night.

we go again!

I think that's fair and I think that reflects the manager's own mindset. Southgate has been really good in getting England to be comfortable on the ball and defensively organised but hasn't been able to progress us offensively against the very best. That's the challenge for the next manager (or Southgate, if he stays).

He was over giving Harry a kiss and a cuddle not long after the final whistle.
