Superb run by Mr G - sorry to ask but number 10? Is he playing as a striker in this match then??

I dozed off through most of it, saw the first goal, dozed a bit more, saw the second goal - is there an award for dullest team not qualified for Euro 2008? We'd have a shoe in there

No, left midfeild, Rooney No.11 but just playing off Defoe.

Barry really does bring a new spark to the middle, huh? Keeps his head up, get's stuck in - i like him, he deserves to play in the middle far more than fat Frank. And Joe Cole dropping in behind Crouch could be what we've wanted for years, bit of creativity along the same lines as Gazza. Eager, quick and a really sharp technique that often get's over looked at club level.

It was on ESPN here, though more English ex-pats probably watched the game than "sawker" fans . We looked decent, Barry looked good and Defoe missed a sitter--was a bit unlucky. US never looked like scoring, really...

To be fair, lots of English girls didn't know it was happening.

Infact, I only knew it was this Wednesday on Monday...

I was there and it was only worth going to hear most of the crowd (or at least just around me) boo Cole, Terry and Lampard when their names were announced individually in the starting line-up. And then I was just sat booing Terry everytime he got the ball, and when he scored. :-(

I feel I am obliged to reply here since I am a Spurs support since the age of 6 yet, I am an American.

The US team is so frustrating one hand we do have great athletes, good facilities and way above average sport science. The team isn't he most skillful but then again, neither is England. Where we really suffer is tactics. The US always plays a very defensive games (always one man up at the back) and way too direct type of play (i.e. build up play on one side then hoof to the other side or hoof it the forwards).

It is what it is. Ultimately, the more US players need to learn their trade abroad from a young age or play in the top leagues. Agree or disagree?

I've not been watching Sportscentre here since the season finished but I forgot this was on until just seeing this thread. I couldn't give an arse, either.

You can blame the players but for me England ceased to matter the second the fans and especially media started to believe we were better than a quarter-finals team. The only time that has been the case in our history was 1996, when Venables corrupted a decent side who could have gone all the way, given home advantage and the averageness of the opposition. We perform no better than Sweden but their fans seem much more grounded and enjoy the matches so much more. I like Swedes.

Anyway, England. Yawn.
