Nothing to be sorted. He won't be classed as a home grown player as he hasn't trained in England (might be whole of UK not 100% sure) for 3 years before his 21st birthday.

From what I understand there was a clause in Dier's contract which stipulated that if Sporting received a €5m bid then they had an opportunity to match the wages offered by the bidding club and if they could/would not do so they were obligated to sell. We offered a contract which would have broken their wage structure and thus they had no option but to sell.

It doesn't look like he'd have much of a reason to make this move unless Poch had told him he'd get a fair shot at a starting place. If we went in to next season with Verts, Kaboul, Chiriches, Dier and Fryers as our CB's I'd be happy. If Lascelles was to come in too I wouldn't be overly bothered if we sold Chiriches or Fryers went out on loan.

That's what Sporting explained in their official statement- posted a few pages back.
