"Dier is receptive to a move to United, largely because he lost his place as Tottenham’s first-choice defensive midfielder to Victor Wanyama last season."

This is not BS.

'Spurs adamant the 23-year-old defensive midfielder is not for sale'

'a bid of about £50m may change Spurs’ thinking.'

That makes no sense.
True. Guardian too. Sign of the times. Fuckwittedness is order of the day it seems.

Looks like we've sent a strong message to the press (almost like a prepared statement), multiple journalists/outlets reporting this at the same time:

Ed Aarons‏@ed_aarons 10m10 minutes ago
Tottenham say they are not prepared to entertain bids for Eric Dier. Also deny opening talks for Mateo Kovacic #thfc

#thfc Spurs say they will not entertain any bids for Dier. And they have not opened talks with Real Madrid for Kovacic.

I understand Spurs will not entertain any offers for Eric Dier this summer. The player is not for sale at any price. No joy for #mufc

#thfc Spurs won't be entertaining any bids for Eric Dier, and they haven't opened talks with Real Madrid for Kovacic.

Not entertaining any bids is an invite for an outrageous offer.

It's not a clear 'not for sale' stance.

If United put £55+ million on the table, Dier is gone.

The way prices are right now, I personally don't even think that's enough. Think Poch has him in his top 5 most wanted due to his character and tactical flexibility.

It's a posh way of saying "Fcuk off he's not for sale!"

That would be a bid of £55+m wouldn't it?
In Dier's shoes I'd consider a move to United but I think it is pretty clear the club ain't dealing.

Telegraph also reckon Dier is next Utd target :
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/07/manchester-united-still-pursuing-eric-dier-spurs/

I just cannot see anyone (except Walker) actually wanting to leave the club at this moment in time and that offers for Eric will be easily rebuffed.I just wish someone would come in for Sissoko.
It's testament to Poch and his management style that everyone seems to be sticking together as a team and putting up the barriers to incoming offers.

Looks like yet another fail for Moanhinho and Man U. Not having a very good summer considering their almost unlimited budget.

It means not for sale mate. If we were really open to selling him then the club just wouldn't comment as in the case of Walker.

Dier is a very good DM a CM and RB if we sell to United we make them Stronger and they could possibly be the difference with them replacing us the top 4 next season. So if we sell him for £55 million we would need to buy a replacement for maybe £25 million. If we then don`t qualify for the champions league then thats a further loss of maybe £35 million in prize money and commercials. in my view even at £55 million it doesn't make sense to sell him.

Utd fans saying he isn't worth that (a few say he isn't even worth 25 lol)

In a world when Stones went for 50, and prices have only gotten more crazy since then, he is easily worth more than 50.

But we won't sell, fuck Mourinho.

To be fair, he's worth a lot lot more to us than he is to them.

If it's purely down to footballing ability, then he's good but he's not world class or out of the top drawer. In fact, aside from his versatility, I don't think we'd miss him in the team as much as people think.

But the crucial point is it goes beyond that for me. Dier epitomises everything about the club's transformation over the past 3 years and it's commitment to developing an English core. It's the principle of us selling him is what makes him so expensive/not for sale. It would feel like a part of the soul of the new era had gone if Dier left.

Sell Dier and then all it takes is a season long wanyama injury then we're struggling. Also, he's Deli's best buddy, so creates instability..

So the suggestion is we've already turned down a bid believed to be under 50 mill for him yet the original story was of a figure having been placed on him for 50 mill a few weeks ago - so we're back where we all started.

:ROFLMAO:

They'd have been better off running a story about Bale back to Spurs than trot this shit out again.
