But Tottenham have stubbornly refused to sell...

How dare a club refuse to sell a player Manchester United.
I know right, but it's because they are from a world perspective, still the biggest british club going. A few drab seasons does not change that, especially when they can splash insane cash on Pogba and then Lukaku.

They are seen in all media, here and abroad, as the equivalent of Real Madrid or Barcelona in Spain, or Bayern Munich in Germany and so when they want a player, the spin is that they should get said player and any team refusing are being plucky or stubborn above their station.

The waters muddy with Chelsea and Man City, but effectively, there is a collective image will, that Manchester United be considered the darlings of the EPL. A couple of seasons in the top 4 won't change the opinion of us. We are still behind in terms of finance, fan base, stadium, trophies etc... and as such we will have to put up with this for years, probably until we have won the EPL, presumably more than once. Until then, we are a plucky mid to large club who still needs to understand our position in the media fuelled food chain.

Dier, for his quality, presence and more importantly tactical adaptability should not be sold at any price.

The kid is unique in English football. He's gold dust.

Direct quote from Utd fan on redcafe re: signing Dier.

'Just to be clear:
We are United and we sign who we want.'

You'd think there'd be some humility after being taken to the cleaners by Juve last year, Everton this year and pretty much every club they've dealt with in the last few years - but nope.

There does always seem a media torrent, almost like it's a bargaining tool setup by United to unsettle, and ultimately secure whoever they want. Like saying if they keep talking about it, eventually we'll just give in to shut them up. Classic bully boy tactics, but this time I get the feeling they're in for a surprise.

Firstly I cant see why Dier would want to join Man U.
Secondly, If Levy were to sell Dier to a rival......well..then we are not going forward anymore. If spurs is gonna "rise" (stated in Nike commercial) we cant be selling our best players.

The problem is that the player and his family all support Man U and although he is very happy here, he would ideally like to go.
Disappointing but true.
I don't think he will cause a fuss if he isn't allowed to go.

Not sure that's true, his dad was an Everton supporter.
