£60 mill is way above what he's worth, but it ain't about the money with us and Utd. It's about drawing a line in the sand and saying our best/most important players are not going to be cherry picked by rival clubs.

They can fuck off, keep fucking off and then fuck off some more.

The club have put it out their that he is not for sale at any price, Poch always finds a way to get him in the team he obviously loves him, it will not happen whatever is offered.

Get them to offer 60 mill plus Martial

then still say no

To be honest, I'd be quite tempted by that. I may be in the minority, but when big Vic arrived, suddenly Dier became the least assured of our 3 centre backs. Pretty shaky at times with a few real brainfarts. And on the occasions he returned to his old DM role, Dier still didn't get, imo, anywhere near the levels of the previous season.

True enough. I think he lacks some motivation to stay at the club in the role of past season, too.

60m + Martial? We'd have to say yes. That'd be an 100m+ deal. There's "not be a selling club" and then there's looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Spend the money on an experienced CB and a young CB with change to spare.

It would take a silly offer for this to have any legs at all. English tax, can play comfortable in two positions.

I don't think United could afford it tbh.

To be honest I think he's been quite hard done by with the anchor role and can see why he might be tempted by Mourinho teasing him with that role.

Nothing against Victor because i think he was awesome last season, but the way I remember it is that Dier was immense in that role too the year before. If any of the other 1st team lost their place (position wise) after a season like that would we not agree it was harsh?

It's only because he stayed in the team elsewhere that people seem bemused as to why he'd be upset but really his versatility has hindered him here.

Personally I think he was well below par last season but if I had to play only one of him and Vic in the anchor role I would still take Eric, in the closest of calls may I add, as I feel his distribution is better.

There is a chance Wanyama simply exceeded expectations of all. I did and still do think that we needed Wanyama. But that he was going to completely overtake Dier like that, well that was a bit of a surprise. If he asked me, I would suggest to Dier that he should stay one more season, but I can fully see why he's motivation might have taken a knock.

In addition to the obvious point of sending a message that PL rivals can't simply dismantle our squad when they choose to do so, such a deal would fly in the face of logic for another valid reason, why get £50 or £60m if we are not going to change our wage structure, we would be putting ourselves at a disadvantage in getting a replacement.

What is, worrying is not only the inflated transfer fees, wage demands by players and agents are rising at a similar rate to the extent that even the most mediocre of players in the market are demanding silly wages and personal terms that our structure would not match. It would be like getting a £60 million pound note that you effectively couldn't make a transaction with.

But Tottenham have stubbornly refused to sell...

How dare a club refuse to sell a player to Manchester United.
