I feel it's the other way around. People forget just how good he is and how he's the epitome of a Poch player. It's true he might never get back to his pre injury form, but how so many claim Alli is the better player baffles me.

Do the same people also think Alli is better than Eriksen?
Dele and Eriksen are different.

Lamela is actually more like Eriksen than Dele. If everyone is healthy - Lamela deputizes for Eriksen in the creator role behind Kane.

No I think an argument can be made for Lamela starting ahead of Son in some matches (not automatically though), especially the big matches where Lamela seems to thrive whereas Son can sometimes struggle.
I really don't. As much as I think Lamela has a wicked fusion of tenacity and vision, he is yet to have a season as strong as Son did last season.

In a 3-4-3 I'd put Lamela right and Son left of Kane. Erik had his best season at Roma on the right of a 3.

That would leave a conundrum of 2 from Alli/Eriksen/Dembélé/Wanyama/Winks in the middle though.

There's those game-changing bench options that whiney bitches keep saying we don't have in every bloody thread at the moment though.

We don't play 3-4-3 so...

We certainly don't play 3-5-2 when we have 3 CBs on the pitch, so what do you call it?
3-4-2-1, Alli and Eriksen are CAMs behind Kane. When Lamela played in an attacking '3', he was on the RW, and we'll never play with that formation. As it happens, I think Lamela would be great in a 3-4-2-1, but certainly not over Eriksen and only above Alli if he's in terrible form, or Lamela's in great form.

We have really missed him in the squad imo - we need a viable alternative to Eriksen when he is injured/off form and Lamela fits the bill.

Ok, so Son slightly behind and to the left of Kane, Lamela slightly behind and to the right of Kane. In reality, it's all very fluid and that system allows Harry the luxury of dropping deeper as the other 2 are more like auxiliary strikers than midfielders.

Yeah - any match where we potentially have Son and Lamela (and Barkley) on the bench as attacking options is a very strong bench.

Just to keep this thread on track, I'd love Poch to just say fuck it and play an Ossie formation:

---------Lloris
Dier -Toby - Verts
-----Wanyama
Lamela -Barkley- Eriksen - Alli - Son
-----------Kane

This got deleted from the ITK thread so adding in here. Someone I work with knows some of what goes on at Watford and apparently Lamela has been seen at their training ground and has followed some Watford players on Twitter. Maybe the possibility of a loan to get his fitness up?

I sure hope it would only be for a loan deal. He is my favorite player when fit and he has done so much for our pressing style of play. But would make sense to get his fitness back up. Recall him in Jan?

I thought he was in Argentina ATM, well according to pics he posted. I don't really see the point in letting him go to Watford. And it would suck to sell him.

We have no one backing up Eriksen right now. Even if we were to bring in Barkley I still think Lamela would have a major role to play if he were to ever get fit. I hope we won't let him go unless it is with the intention of recalling him in January.
