What an impressive debut. I'm trying not to get excited after a cameo at Palace but this guy seemed to have it all. I'm feeling real optimism this season.... It's a little unsettling!

I thought this was well worth bumping. On one hand, I'd give him a start today and think he might deserve a place over Dembele or Holtby, but on the other hand, he's not too match fit. At the very least he MUST come off the bench ahead of Bentaleb. As much as Nabil has had a good start, I don't think he should be coming on over our signing considering the money we spent on him. I was very annoyed that this happened against Southampton AND West Brom and I think this shows that Sherwood has a bit of a love affair with the man which I'm worried might get in the way. It's great that Sherwood has faith in him, but he must not let it get in the way of selecting other more experienced players. Holtby was also forced to remain benched by Bentaleb against Southampton don't forget. Bentaleb over both Capoue AND Holtby? I don't like that.

true we are lacking experience at the moment but i was still impressed by Benteleb and its Tim's call anyway. However, you would think Capoue has to feature soon.

If Capoue doesn't feature today then I'll definitely start to think that for whatever reason he doesn't rate him. So far he's played just about everyone else available o him in cm.

Give the guy a chance, he came back from injury and was thrown in at centre back where he was torn to pieces....

Yep, the annoying thing is he hasnt even had a chance to prove himself in midfield.

And up until the Arsenal game he had looked quite decent, then has come back from injury and only played at cb. Want to see him starting today against a physical Stoke team.

As mentioned before one ITK said that he isnt playing due to turning up late to training

which is far enough, also Bentaleb is one of the most highly rated players we had in years.

I haven't seen the itk on this, first i've heard of it, so from my point of view which is obviously only from a far it just looks like benching an experienced player in favour of a kid. Bentaleb has done well and I'm glad he's getting an opportunity but I'd sooner see Capoue as our cm at the moment especially if we're only playing with 2 in there.

Well I'd rather see Paulinho, but we signed Capoue so we had strength in depth when the likes of Paulinho/Sandro are injured/suspended, yet Sherwood ignored him.

I would hate to see Capoue fall out of favour. On the other hand, we have seen precious few kids make it (I mean really make it) through to the first team. If Sherwood has no other legacy then blooding a few youngsters wouldn't be a bad thing. After all, people talk about wasting money, what's the point of this super duper, super expensive star wars training ground otherwise?

Taking away from my point that i really like Capoue, and think he could become a good Anchor in a middle 3, i do wonder why Bentaleb wasn't noticed or assessed by AvB to step into the first team squad, and from the clubs position probably wonder why we bought Capoue instead.

Well we know Andre likes to play with a DM and a more dynamic midfielder. Last year we had Sandro and Parker as our main defensive guys, with Dembele as more of a box to box. I can understand buying Capoue with Sandro still being touch and go. We also struggled last year for numbers when Dembele had a hip problem, so I would've thought the idea was for Dembele and Paulinho to rotate and the other two to rotate, with the added flexibility that they could all play together or in a midfield 3 if required.

From what I gather AVB had already liked the look of Bentaleb and put him on the bench in Europe, but he;s had a couple of decent showings, it doesn't mean he's at our more senior players' level.

A lot of our youngsters are still about 2 years away from actually being a part of squad, they are simply not ready yet.

So we got some young very talented youngsters in the likes of Capoue, Eriksen, Lamela et al, I am guessing so that when the youngsters are ready they can slip into an already young dynamic team full hunger and desire. As I can't see Spurs spending £100 million again.

It is just a shame that both AVB and Sherwood (thus far) have completely failed to utilise use them and really integrate them.

I would be happy for Bentaleb to replace Dembele in all honesty. Sandro, Paulinho, Capoue and Bentaleb is a very good selection of players to add strength to the middle of the park.

Indeed, i am not saying Bentaleb is the second coming, more so from the clubs position that they would have preferred to blood an Academy player, although why Bentaleb didn't get game time against some truly awful opposition in Europa is beyond me.
I am glad we have Capoue, as stated, i like him and realise why we bought him.

Yes I guess you're right, but at times we had other players to rotate (Sandro coming back from injury in the first part of the Europa, Dembele if Paulinho and Capoue started in the league).

I'm not sure that AVB was ever that bothered about the kids. Bit early with Sherwood but I'm sure that part of his remit is to see some of them integrated.

None of that is any excuse to play a newby over Capoue off the bench when we need something to happen in a game.

is Paulinho injured right now? If so, then it must have been a training injury as he has not played since liverpool
