Etienne Capoue clears way for Arsenal or Tottenham move by admitting he wants to quit Toulouse

Arsenal and Tottenham target Etienne Capoue has admitted he will be looking to leave Toulouse this summer.
The 24-year-old French international midfielder, who has played 150 times for the Ligue 1 club since making his debut in 2007, has also been linked with Paris St Germain and AC Milan.
Toulouse coach Alain Casanova is hopeful Capoue will stay at the club but the player himself gave no encouragement when speaking today.
‘If he (Casanova) wants to keep me, that is good,’ Capoue told L’Equipe.
‘That says that he counts on me, that he is happy with me.
‘But it is football. I feel it is the moment to leave, to play in big competitions.’

Capoue is currently with the France squad in Montevideo where Les Bleus take on Uruguary in a friendly before a clash with Brazil on Sunday.
And he will not make a decision on his club future until after those two games.
‘Right now, I am with the national team and I continue to represent TFC,’ he added.
‘We will talk about it again after June 10.’

Seems to be a name which crops up every season, i've regularly read favourable comments about him but i'm not sure if he's what we need at this point in time? Won't claim to have seen much of him though.

It'll be Arseanal or PSG, in my opinion. Arseanal have been linked with him for ages (type Capoue into google and before you've even finished typing the name, Google suggests "Capoue Arseanal").. Master Splinter seems to have the magic touch when it comes to getting French players in, is the guy any good?

LOL cheers mate. Don't suppose you could elaborate a little? What are his strengths? What would he add to our team etc?

He's a DM. Plays in a similar role to Sandro, for example he often covers for roaming CBs, drops down and takes on the third CB role when the fullbacks attack etc. But he's got some tricks, decent vision and can pick a pass. The Toulouse CBs often gives him the ball and he initiates play from deep down. He's good at winning the ball and picking an easy pass and seldomly over-complicates things.

These are the things he usually does, from the games I've seen.

- Tackles and intercepts the ball well
- Picks good and simple passes
- Cover for defenders
- Drives play forward.

He isn't the most creative guy out there, but he often gets things going very early on.

Cheers mate, I appreciate that. Still, by the sounds of it, he'd be a bit of a square peg? Or would he, in your opinion, slot in the same team as Sandro & Dembele?

He's not better than Sandro at defending, intercepting, tackling and covering, but he's some creativity, but he isn't as good a box-to-box player as Dembele, but he's got qualities and I'm sure we'd find him beneficial. He got 7 goals and 3 assists this season as well, so he's got that going for him. He's an upgrade on Parker though and very good cover for Sandro.

Who isn't an upgrade on Parker?!

I've watched him a lot for Toulouse, he always struck me as a bit Ledley like, I guess unsurprising in some ways as he started out as CB, his reading and timing of tackles are generally excellent and he has a very good vision and passing range and has been an excellent dm/deep lying playmaker, although last season he generally played a more advanced role.
I think he'd be a great partner for Sandro but I still think we'd need a more advanced cm with good ink up play and off the ball movement to link the midfield and attack more

Then the obvious (and predictable) question must be, aah but will he be happy to come in and be 'cover'??

i think Parker, Livermore and Huddlestone are not the standard we require so we need a top quality dm who can eithe partner Sandro, provide good competition for Sandro, play instead of Sandro. This guy could be it. The price, the age, the quality is right up Levys street

Any idea what sort of price would be being asked here?

A lot of what's being said sounds a bit similar to M'Vila to me?

This is nicked from an L'Equipe article I posted yesterday in the "other people's transfers" in General Football, except the Metro has added "Spurs & Arsenal".

We are not linked as such.
