Everyone saying no-one else from England would ever have a chance at this level forevermore ... isnt there supposed to be 5 extra slots per year? How does that work? Presumably the next best or two from England would go into a Champions League-esque qualifying round for it, so Everton and Leicester and so on would still have a route into it, and potentially an easier route at least to the qualifying than it is currently to Champs League qualifying, because top 'super' English club's Prem positions would be irrelevant in this scenario. I dunno, not saying im for this whole shenanigans or anything.

As I’ve said I’m not that keen on this. But is it that much different from when the premier league broke away from the EFL?

Yeah it’s completely different. Not much changed at all as the leagues still all operated the same with relegation and promotion. With this there’s none of that proposed (initially or in the future). It’s a closed shop for the rich.

As fans of the club, would we prefer to watch the team get (mostly) beaten on a weekly basis by the other bigger SL clubs or would we prefer to be in a position to win more games staying in the PL (as a non-SL club)?

The novelty of the new league and playing regularly against the big clubs will wear off pretty soon if we keep getting beat most of the time.
At the moment we get beaten by most teams every week in our own league so not much change there.
??

A lot of Spurs piss taking on social media and sky that i am not too happy about.

G.Neville saying he is not bothered about spurs wasnt nice and then the intro of sky news hourly show had him saying the word joke when the spurs stadium was shown. These things are not coincidental.

Of the 6 clubs, we are the only club that is still owned and managed by a fan. We broke the beloved top 4 organically by excellent decisions on and off the pitch. The other teams may aswell be franchises. I dont understand why Spurs are so hated, we dont even win winning anything either.

I am disgusted by all clubs behind this idea. It is pure greed, without any regard for domestic leagues all over europe.

Am I missing something with this argument? It's totally different, surely? There's nothing fundamental stopping an EFL club getting to the PL. This super league seems to be a closed shop, which is an equally boring and depressing concept.

Haha. Spurs can't get out of midtable at the moment and haven't won anything in years, let alone a championship. And we sign up for this rigged horseshit.

You can see it now. The premier league becomes more compelling because the arsehole clubs have left, while spurs play in a euro super league getting trounced every week in front of a half empty stadium of bsodls.

Oh come on, the whole world of football is absolutely riddled with corruption and greed. None more so than the likes of PSG for instance who lots of posters on this forum alone are wanking themselves into a stupor at the mere thought that they could win the UCL. Its here and here to stay. This notion of pure roots football is for the birds.
Never said the current state of European football was ideal, but going full greed-on-steroids with this European super league would be the final nail in tbe coffin

You're way too erm, sensitive.

Do you honestly think that hot on the heels of headlines that would see football having the piss and soul ripped out of it, the first thing they think to do is riddle it with their supposed raging agenda against Spurs.

The final nail in the coffin.

It's not what it used to be already and this would make it even more soul less.

If, and its a big if, this does go ahead, and the premier league tried to kick out the 5-6 English clubs that planned to enter the new competition they would really just be ruining there own competition. The EPL without the so called big six would be near worthless, the TV companies would have clauses/and or renegotiate new far far lower deals not much better than the championship.

And what would newly expelled top 6 clubs do domestically? Well surely just create their own new English elite top league, inviting another 6-10 English ( maybe even incorporate the 2 Glasgow clubs) TV would be all over it, it really just ends up restructuring top level football with new organisations. As long as there is some sort of promotional access to the so called lesser clubs it would probably work and with time be grudgingly accepted.

Football as we know it would just continue to evolve as at has done for the last 20-30 years. But with the major difference that the big clubs dominate the new financial structures, and like it or not that's what all the big clubs want, who after all invest the big bucks and from a business point of view draw the most income from external sources ( TV & advertising etc).

Our footballing suffering will continue, just in a different format :)

The proposal doesn’t replace the Premier League, just European football in its current format.

He is just saying it as it is that we are nothing special in the football world just because we have a new shiny toy.
The club have repeatedly failed for decades to be called a genuine big club that threatens the other big clubs around them for the top prizes, it's tough for some fans to hear but many of us have been saying this for years and have become aligned with the club being who it is.

I do think a European Super league would get boring quite quickly. (More so for Spurs fans as we would likely be the whipping boys)
But I agree with whoever it was that said it's success would likely come down to which broadcasters backed it.

As for the PL (assuming we were kicked out of it) it would be a good opportunity to rebrand it.
As a kid supporting football was a lot more fun because I was ignorant to the influence of Money.
I'd like to see a wage cap introduced to try and level the playing field.

Premier League clubs are fcuking stupid. They have a much bigger TV deal than other leagues and now that will be leveled up more.

The whole idea stinks. Football doesn't need super League. We will get battered most weeks with our current management

For the founding members others can be voted in/out on performance. The only problem with this is if they are voted out where do they play if FIFA and UEFA ban them from competition?
