The only thing about N'Dicka is that, he is 6'4" and while very fast, he isn't a smooth, stylish type of mover. Ousmane Dembele had him on a string for a few runs in their match. Wingers can hurt him, quick interplay can hurt him, and he's not a great passer.

In short he's an amazing physical presence and CB, but he is much more prototypical CB than LB/CB hybrid if that makes sense.

I think Conte's Bastoni profile is a huge priority for him at LCB. He really wants passing, fluidity, playmaking from that position.

This explains the Hincapie/Lenglet links and probably why N'Dicka wasn't an immediate priority. Not sure how that will affect this transfer, but I think his profile isn't exactly what we're interested in.

I’ve yet to see anyone dispute that Davies had excellent season last year to be fair. We just need competition for places and signing quality while doing that is never a bad idea
Really? I feel like saying everyone thinks Davies had an 'excellent' season is kinda revisionist, I don't really recall this being a narrative during the season. To me, he was decent but relatively unnoticeable in most games (maybe this is good as a defender) and also a bit of a hindrance in possession, often passing backwards when simple forward passes were on.

Wonder if we could go for him and Hincapie if Bremer never came off?
Just a thought, he can play CCB from what I have seen.

If it was Benero NDavis people would be going nuts

Whenever we are linked to any player we have not seen much of, people should compare clips to our own players and actually see how good they are in the first place. That and also take into consideration that the PL is a much much harder league.

That being said, it is not always easy to watch youtube clips of really good defenders, because the to top defenders do not go into "sweet" tackles or duels , they usually take out the 2-3 yards extra before the situation arise, or they take out their man in a clever way in the box making it look like it was never a dangerous situation in the first place.

I think it gets skewed aswell due to how we were playing before. Many players were playing below the level expected and what they are capable of. While I don’t dispute Davies improved drastically under Conte, did he do much more that what is expected of someone playing in that position, for a Champions league team?

Yeah I agree. I think Davies was a good, solid LCB for us last season and if we were to go into next season with him as our first choice LCB I'd be fine with that, but I don't think he was exceptional. He reads the game well and made some great last ditch tackles and headers, but on the ball he's fairly average by PL standards in that position (those passes down the line in his video compilation are basically the only memorable passes he made all season) and he's not especially big, strong or quick. I also recall him getting away with a number of loose passes and mistakes that could've very easily led to goals.

I genuinely do rate him, but I feel like at the moment people are almost over-compensating and acting like he's been amazing, when in fact he's been good and exceeded expectations...but is also always going to have certain limitations. You only have to compare him to Romero on the other side to see the difference.

I think with how good he was second half of the season and particularly the last couple of months of the season where he was near faultless and defending brilliantly in most matches elevated him in my mind to the “excellent season” bracket. I feel like most people feel the same way from what I’ve personally seen but maybe I’m wrong. I agree he can hinder us in possession sometimes but he definitely had a great second half of the season in my opinion, obviously didn’t really play under Nuno, so it’s hard to really judge him on that period while a back 4 was in play and Reggie was preferred

We were also linked by these (no idea who their source is)

But they’re decent guys and die hard Spurs fans like all of us. So no reason for them to make it up.

how have vloggers suddenly became itk? Don’t knock their choice of what they do, but don’t start claiming you’ve got inside knowledge when all they are is fans like all of us.

I personally think Davies was better than Dier last season but I would rather replace Davies in the back line because we need either a better passer or more physical presence who can drive the ball forward from LCB.

It's not laughable to suggest Davies is as good as Ndicka going off of last season. 95% of us are going off Youtube compilations and I'm sure Ndicka had lots of shaky moments himself across the season and is not a perfect world-class defender by any means. Ndicka is just a more athletic human and LCB is a key position for Spurs where you need some real forward-thinking impetus or creativity, as well as defensive solidity.

So no reason for them to make it up.

Apart from all the money they get for the clicks you mean?

It's bad enough posting aggregators who butcher info but I think we probably should draw the line at this. I'll leave it to people to rate these sort of things accordingly.

Thrilled that we're actively looking to sign him. I shared this in April as I was reading up about him and his potential fit for our team.

" The 22-year-old’s developing football IQ has also ensured that he is tactically flexible, having featured in a range of systems and having been deployed in multiple contrasting roles under Glasner and former manager Adi Hütter. Early in his reign at Frankfurt, Hütter was renowned for deploying a 3-4-1-2 system which aimed to get the best out of his two dynamic centre-forwards Luka Jović and Sebastien Haller.

Morphing into a 3-2-5 in possession, Hütter gave license for wing-backs Filip Kostić and Danny da Costa to overlap high and wide in order to draw defenders away from the channel where versatile Croatian Ante Rebić and the aforementioned Jović and Haller would clinically finish opportunities.

In this system, N’Dicka was primarily used on the left of the back 3 for his vision and ability to quickly progress the ball. When coming against teams that pressed with a front two, Frankfurt would often circulate the ball to the right, drawing the opposition’s pressers towards the right-side before quickly shifting it to N’Dicka on the left who would pick out the likes of Rebić, Jović and Haller between the lines. "

Guy is a talent and offers something different to Davies.

N’Dicka - Bremer - Romero

That’s a seriously physical and aggressive back line. Attackers would hate it! Davies and Dier to add some calmness for certain games. I like that N’Dicka offers a serious threat at corners too. Something we aren’t good at.
I don't understand why people keep doing this. Dier was immense last season and won't be kicked to the bench like that.

Bremer also doesn't seem like the type of player Conte wants in the middle of his backline either as it would be far too aggressive.

Haven't seen much of him myself so can't really say myself, but looks solid defensively whilst being pretty comfortable with the ball at his feet from this video.

He feels like a very Conte style defender. It’s definitely what he did with Gentle Ben and Romero.

Can't see how we would go wrong with buying him. He seems like a player that would be worth £50m next year. Very impressed with the clips, I sometimes struggle watching highlight clips as I'm not always sure who I'm looking for in them, but this lad doesn't even need a shirt number.... He's bloody massive and so aggressive in the tackle.

I honestly don't mind our CB core if Ndicka is all we get...Davies/Ndicka, Dier/Rodon, Romero/Sanchez...that's very good.
