I don't know if this means I'm getting very sheltered in my old age - but that really is news to me. I've only ever seen them in use in demonstrations on TV, and the odd bit of online footage. I really did believe that they took any human being out with one hit...and that that was the point of it. Obviously everything I said was based on that understanding but, as it turns out, I don't know shit :(

Didn't the Scandinavians develop some kind of foam gun that shot a stream of liquid foam at targets legs which them expanded and hardened immobising them with very limited risk of injury?

There's a lot of misconceptions about tasers and maybe about Police/Policing. For example, someone on this thread questioned whether tasers are safe to use. Well, no they're not. They are a weapon and treated as such by the Police. Only firearms officers and limited numbers of taser trained officers carry them and are authorised to use them. Tasers are treated as firearms.

They are known to be potentially fatal in those with health defects and people tasered can sometimes be injured in falling. Even drawing a taser has to be logged by the force and notified with a full audit trail of rationale for deployment and drawing of the weapon.

Are you sure you're not getting mixed up with Spider Man?

The barbs can get stuck in clothing and not in the skin. If this happens, the circuit won't be formed and the shock won't be administered. Even if one of the barbs goes into the skin and the other is caught in clothing the circuit obviously won't work.

Several newspapers are saying similar, this is from the Mirror.

According to The Sun when the first Taser shot of 50,000 volts did not stop Atkinson he shouted: “It’s not working.”

It was when a second Taser also failed Ernest, 85, said his son then yelled: “I am the Messiah.

.

No report of an old woman leaving her house and addressing the crowd & police with..." He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy"?

I'll piss off then.

No misconceptions about the police...just honestly thought tasers were designed to take any target down first time. That was based on only ever having seen demonstrations/usage on TV and not reading up on the subject. I suppose it would be obvious that someone with health defects would be at risk of having an electrical current running through them, and I was aware of the problem of falling (and hinted at it in my post).

My only issue was about someone being taser so many times - and, to repeat, this was based on the misconception that tasers were guaranteed to bring anyone down (y)

Some of you don't seem to understand the point I was trying to make.

This is all mostly off topic - the topic being general football- please try to keep up.

Even worse there are no grammar tips to make it even remotely relevant.

Or just forget it lol!!

Haha chill Winston!

Was just humorous to me that you brought up the relevant location of the post as opposed to the actual content of the post.

We're all friends!

That must be really unusual. I’ve seen it used three times, prison, street and in a school. First two were mental health settings, both were psychotic, the guy in the street was also high on crack, taser dropped them both! The kid in school, around 17, didn’t miss a beat, pulled the chain out of his bare arm and kept swinging at everyone. It won’t get caught in clothing unless you’re wearing some special protective clothing – carbon fibre stuff!
