This is what you get with Conte and he has earned his right to be like it.

That said the dourness is certainly not my favourite flavour.

I agree with everything Conte has said so I'm really not sure why some people are getting annoyed about it. Let's see what happens in the summer before we all go mental.

Everybody knows we are the club the media always make fun of so why are we suddenly concerned we are once again being made to look like a joke - this is just a continuation of a narrative that has been there for many years.

to be fair they have the ammunition rather than making up garbage, our manager practically called us out as being a bit small time

I assumed things had changed and he was calling the tunes on ins and outs. You can only engage Conte on that basis. Yet clearly little has changed with the club hierarchy.

Not surprised by his comments as they make more sense to me than the shit the club spouts out.

Wonder how players feel being called out for not being good enough to get top 4 lol. Most need it tbf. But just gives more ammunition to press to push him for how shit we are in the pre match pressers

Keep your mouth shut, manage the team and show us how good of a coach you are.

You're asking the fans for support and patience...right back at ya gaffer ;)

Then if he is complaint about numbers why let four go and bring less in?
I personally thought the transfer window was poor in terms of recruitment yes let people leave if you don't want them but at least have people lined up to replace them FFS.
It could also be that he is getting the excuses in early for the two shit results by trying to get the fanbase to do expect much which we don't anyway.
If he is genuinely fucked off then I think we are heading for trouble with him unlikely to be here beyond the summer if true of course.
Because the four he let go were not first team player's and the two he bought in are !

Tell you what though, those boo's at HT vs Southampton have really catapulted the team forward since and harboured some fantastic vibes

We have gone backwards in the last few games and players look bereft of confidence (and ability) while playing in an unsuitable formation for the teams we were playing against.

I'd rather the energy was focussed on improving the team (that is currently here) than getting a pointed, self serving narrative across in the media - that leads to a cloud of negativity around all involved with the club.

I don't care if he's right or wrong in what he is saying.

Conte gonna Conte.

He says inflammatory stuff at every club he's worked at. If anything I'm surprised he's taken this long to rile people up a bit.

Don't think it's worth over-analysing or catastrophising. Better just to ignore it and the press machine that feeds off this shit.

He's not going to walk away this season.

I said it a couple of months back. Even if he has a point, the regularity with which he announces just how difficult a job he has is seriously unprofessional. Not to mention extremely fucking boring. The team has its (severe) limitations, of course, but he's paid a truckload of money to make them more than the sum of their parts. For a while he seemed to be in the process of doing just that, but he now appears to be throwing them under the bus in order to distract from his own failings.

I don’t have a problem with what he’s said, and even less so if Ally Gold’s translation is nearer or on the button.
I’ve always thought our team - even the Jan, Toby, Dembele, Eriksen team - needed an older calmer more experienced figure or two in there to get us over the line. If we signed Brozovic and De Vrij, plus Bale, I’m sure we’d see a shift in mentality of the team. Could explain the links to Vidal too.

It’s odd that we don’t have an older experienced player in the ranks. We’ve always had a bit of this - Nicola Berti, Edgar Davids, Noureddine Naybet, Gus Poyet - even when we brought back Teddy and Jurgen. So we probably do need some experience of that ilk in the team

Find the comments about weakening the squad slightly bizarre and contradictory. Aren’t these the players Conte wanted out? Aren’t they the ones he basically banished from the squad? For him to now be moaning about them being sold is a bit rich to be honest, he wasn’t using them in the first place.

This feels like him hedging his bets to me, if things don’t work out he’s laying the groundwork for blaming the club.

Tired of these "its me vs the club" managers who just moan and moan and moan.

We know the club is shit, we know the recruitment has been shit but please just shut up and do your job on the training ground.

If Levy wants us to be a club that develops young players then he needs to hire manager that can do that. He clearly has no vision whatsoever for what our identity is or should be.
