If losing that one game meant we sack conte and bring in a well thought out manager who therefore gets more time than said manager joining at the end of the summer knowing levy and his fucking about then he’s losing that one game would be beneficial longer term.
I think I've spotted a flaw to your plan!

But as the pundits rightly said last night there is no point us even being in the CL if we aren’t going to compete or go for it, if we just make up the numbers and defend and whimper out it serves no purpose other than financial, whereas if we got the new manager in sooner rather than later they’d have more time to build towards a potentially successful season next season.

Top 4 isn’t a trophy, I really couldn’t care less right now if we finish 4th,5th,6th,7th, without a solid plan behind the right new manager it doesn’t matter.
You're right it doesn't matter without a solid plan. And therein lies the main problem. We don't ever have one. And I doubt we will under a new man anyway.

But its not beneficial in the push for 4th. Which is all we have left to play for.

I don't get why anyone would want us to lose a game. Baffling.
It’s called ‘The Bigger Picture’.

Short term pain for long term gain.

Like when Nuno was stinking the place out and we literally weren’t even having a shot in a whole game, if losing one more game meant the crowd would react so strongly that the chairman and DofF would have to act to remove Nuno then losing that one game is better than say scraping a draw and the pain is prolonged.

If anything you could flip it around and say I don’t see why certain people would want us to continue on a path that we all know is leading to nowhere :)

I hope he does end up there at some point - spend an absolute fortune, and fail miserably once again:

prove that it’s him and his shit football that is the problem, and not the club.
Yeah - prove it’s him and not this club - like Jose, wins trophies everywhere accept here, but it’s not the club.

Hilarious

He needs to go, but surely you can see the common denominator in our continued failure?

Replied re bigger picture in another post.

And basically answered the last part in same post but no matter who the man is in charge, we are going down the same path with him too, going nowhere with the man at the very top as the puppet master.

It’s not personal to the manager. If we don’t like the product, we have the right to complain. Watching Spurs quite often makes me miserable. Not sure how you enjoy that, but as you say, each to their own!
We’ve crossed over to the point where we tune in for the great crisis humour 👌

The problem is that 'the bigger picture' isn't the manager. The bigger picture is the board and how we operate as a club.

If I really believed that Conte is the problem, then fine, lose a game, get him fired, whatever. But getting rid of him now won't change anything other we might get some short-term optimism and get that 4th place you don't want.

After 26 games last season we were out of all the cups and 7th in the league on 45 points, 3 points off top 4 having played a game more and 13 points off third place.

This season after 26 games we are out of all the cups, 4th in the league on 45 points and 4 points off third.

Yeh but.........

Son - worst seaosn was 4 prem goals in 28 games under Poch (he has 5 in 24 this season) so your statement is factually incorrect. He also had his best ever season in the Prem under Conte last year but I am sure you can invent a reason why Conte had nothing to do with that, but Son's bad form is "100%" on Conte.
Kulu - poor at Juventus - great for a calendar year under Conte - has he just hit a poor run of form or is this the player he really is and why he didn't succeed at Juventus?
Richarlison - yep he's struggling playing second fiddle to one of the best strikers the Prem has ever seen.
Mate you're desperately trying to defend a bloke who doesn't wanna be here.

If he had signed a long term deal and asks for patience then fair enough but he hasn't and he never will do.

Exactly. This mentality is fucking insane. How far would folk take it? As in, I hope we get relegated all the way down to the national league as it means we will get a new manager. My fucking hairy arse. Again.

Agree the bigger picture is the board but right now the bigger picture is we are all BORED 😂 so first and foremost let’s rectify everyone being bored, then we can work on ousting The Board.

To be honest though I haven't got much sympathy for this page after page of wailing coming out now from fans. People must have known what they were signing up for.

Nothing that has happened is in any way surprising. ConteBall is very rigid, often very defensive, often very turgid, and he would never change course. That he likes to, as I always put it, "have his cake but not eat it" in terms of demanding a big squad but not rotating is also no surprise, then there are the personality traits - the moodiness, sulking, demands, non-committals if not outright threats to quit, etc. He's always done it, he always will.

This is pure deja vu from Mourinho's tenure - another who most fans demanded we get in, and then didn't like the reality of it. I'm not sure what happens but either a) fans actually don't watch any other football and tbh know the square root of fuck all about these managers or b) they delude themselves that this time they'll do it differently at my club!.....

I'm sure loads of people will reply with if he'd won a trophy or two I'd have put up with this.... Maybe some of you, bet a lot of you wouldn't though and we'd still have a metric fuck-ton of dissent every week even with a couple of trophies to go in the cabinet.

All us fans like to point out where the club, chairman, manager, players and so on need to improve and do things better.... Well the punters also need to learn lessons themselves. Stop getting seduced by the big name, the reputation, the easy obvious option, and loudly and immediately jumping on that bandwagon.

The other problem is that even good football isn't enough after a while. Redknapp and Poch both got us playing good football but after a while the stagnation is clear for all to see.

It’s a valid point to make.

my issue is, we spent a bit of money (on the wrong things), are playing much worse football, have been knocked out of all cups, I use the term knocked, it really means limped out, without a fight.

a manager who hasn’t committed to the club, a constant circus surrounding us as a club.

The board, manager, players and probably staff all need to take a portion of the blame.

we are going backwards, and plenty of clubs are going forwards at the same time

Ok I’m glad you’ve said that as this debate goes round in circles ⭕️ and it drives me mad.

Yes you’re right after a while certain managers or teams go a bit stagnant but SO FUCKING WHAT, if said manager say Redknapp or Poch is giving us 2-4 seasons in their respective cases of mostly scintillating football more or less week in week out then who cares if at a certain point it runs it’s course of some fans become a bit frustrated.

I bang on about the style of play because that has to always be the foundation for our club, without a decent style of play no manager will ever end well with our fans or with most football fans tbh, why would any of us want to spend hundreds of pounds and our precious time watching absolute defensive toothless rigid crap most weeks (which btw doesn’t win shit just as much as playing nice expansive football also isn’t a guaranteed of winning but AT LEAST WE MIGHT SMILE A BIT AND YOU KNOW MABYE ENJOY WATCHING OUR TEAM).

Sorry mate I like your posts and you as a poster so this isn’t about you but certain people always say this about how “In the end good football isn’t enough after a while”, yea for a minority of fans who will probably always moan about something anyway but who cares…

If we have a manager and a team who set out to create chances and win games and be brave and entertain us AND of course try their best to win something then at the end of the day that is all we can ask for.

Yes of course I want us to win a trophy as much as the next person, but winning is never a guarantee, we can’t really control that, but when we can do is week in week out look forward to going and meeting up with friends and family and watching our team play and for the last 3 years, 3 fucking years, we’ve rarely been able to do that , it’s as simple as that.

My point was that the majority of fans wanted Redknapp and Poch gone. I'm all for us playing good football and believe that to achieve it is something we need to do. It gets the fans behind the club and pretty much every top Prem club in recent years has played good football.

My post was based on my previous post, that we have a bigger problem at board level. Until that is sorted, the good football won't be enough for us to achieve.

I’m pretty much a vulture these days. I circle SC when I get a whiff of death rather than soak in the misery full time. The Conte reign is on its last legs.
