I was surfing the net and I had an idea. I wonder what has happened to all our ex-players, those that made it and those that didnt.

Just thought it would be interesting to see where everyone is? Please feel free to add to the list.

First up

Espen Baardsen: the Norwegian Goalie with so much potential was....

...sold to Watford for £1.25 million to get regular first-team football and spent most of his remaining Watford career on the bench.

Following a short loan spell at Everton, Baardsen retired from the game aged only 25 and moved back to the US claiming he had lost interest in the game.

He currently works as a financial analyst for a London-based Hedge fund.

I also found,

David Howells: Our central midfield lynchpin (lol) who....

... also represented Southampton and Bristol City before retiring from the game in 2000 due to a persistent knee problem.

David now runs a string of soccer schools all over Europe.

and finally

Ilie Dumitrescu: part of Ossy's famous 5 left us and...

...signed for West ham but left as a free agent due to Work permit problems. he later played for Club America and CF Atlante in Mexico and ended his career at Steaua in 98 at the age of 29.

Later owned a sports agency called Sport & Business World however it was short lived without any relevant success.

Later became the manager of Otelul Galati, FCM Bacau and FC Brasovand in Romania. Before taking the role of head coach of the Romanian Under 21 side.

Meanwhile he also the manager of the Cypriot team promotion winning Alki Larnaca. Later with Apollon Limassol he was awarded the unofficial title of the winter champions and he, personally, was awarded as the best trainer of Cyprus for the year 04. He left for Aek Athens and has since managed Egaleo, Kallithea, Akratitios, POAK all in the Greek Super League

He was criticized in his most recent job for the u;tra defensive style of play adopted by PAOK.Dumitrescu resigned in Oct 06 and now runs his own art gallery in Bucharest

Cliff Jones and wife Joan live in Goffs Oak and I keep in touch with them, retired now of course although Cliff keeps his hand in in Hospitality at the club.

Had a Christmas card from them and they are both well.

Yes he did. Although he doesn't appear in the record books, Kempes played (I think) four games for us one pre-season. Scored a couple of goals as well. Would love to know why we didn't sign him.

My claim to fame is that when I was at Junior School all those years ago back in Enfield I was there with Ian Gilzean, Alan's son. And every so often Gilzean senior used to come along and run the practice sessions for the school team. At the time none of knew who he was, but we were always a bit surprised when our dads used to turn up to watch us !!!!! He was a real top bloke - you can't imagine a top player doing that nowadays.

Ian was a really handy player, and played for spurs a bit, but persistent injuries (I think his ankle ligaments gave him trouble) really held his career back.

No idea where he is today but thought I'd chuck that little story into the mix........

Last I heard of Alan, he was living in Enfield having retired from working for a transport company.

Perhaps he has moved out of the area since retiring though.
